Continuity mistake: Adelaide performs her first number and finds Nathan in her dressing room. There is a pink robe draped over the partition. Placement of this robe changes during the scene without being touched. (00:49:45 - 00:50:30)
Continuity mistake: Sara Brown is giving her speech in the street, and the man selling watches is trying to 'steal' her audience. There are window washers in the background under the "Jones" signs. On the long shots there is a man on the left window on a ladder. On Sara's closeup shot, he's standing on the street washing the window, ladder gone. (00:08:35)
Continuity mistake: Right before the "Pet Me Poppa" number, there is a shot showing some sort of smoky substance lurking on the stage. The shot also includes a man walking onto the stage. The shot changes to a close up shot of him making an announcement, and the smoke is gone. When the shot changes to show the entire stage the smoke is there again.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Nathan is trying to get Sky to take part in a bet, watch the people who are walking past outside, the scene jumps at least three times.
Continuity mistake: The first time we see Adelaide sneeze in the movie (at Mindy's), she says a line to Nathan, holds her empty hand up to her nose, and sneezes. In the next shot (the camera is at a different angle), her hand is suddenly dabbing her nose with a handkerchief.
Continuity mistake: After the song "The Oldest Established", Angie the Ox tells Nathan Detroit that Sky Masterson is in town. Benny Southstreet acts as if he didn't know anything about Sky. In Mindy's after Sky tells Nathan about one of his father's pieces of advice, Benny acts as if he does know Sky.
Continuity mistake: While Sarah is talking to Sky, a car outside the Mission that wasn't there before suddenly appears when Sarah says, "I'm afraid that is true. I don' trust you Mr. Masterson." Note: This was done deliberately by the crew in order to hide the Havana set across the street.
Continuity mistake: When the man is on the street selling watches, the crowd around him instantly changes from shot to shot. For instance, in two shots there's a man to the right in a brown jacket and hat, then instantly there's an older, shorter man in a grey suit in the same spot. (00:08:40)
Continuity mistake: During the song "I'll know" the chair moves behind Sky. It happens a few times.
Continuity mistake: Nicely and Nathan sit down for dinner, to the right there is a lady sitting in the booth behind them. Shot starts with her drinking coffee, arms bent, cup in hand. Shot changes direction, she's instantly sitting with arms down, cigarette in one hand, and blowing smoke out her mouth. (00:18:00)
Visible crew/equipment: When Sarah and Sky are talking in the mission, Sarah, is trying to get him to leave and he insists he needs private lessons from her. Sarah says something along the lines of, "Well, our doors are always open, come back anytime." On this line, she crosses to the front door, opens it, and the viewer is treated to a full view of the Havana set, complete with the word "Havana" written on it.
Continuity mistake: When Sky and Sarah ordered their first drink, they were at an open cocktail table with a waiter standing on one side taking their orders. On their third order of drinks, with no indication that they have moved to another table, they were suddenly inside a booth, with Sarah resting her head on one of the walls.
Character mistake: Sarah after speaking to Sky when they come back from Havana and the thugs leave from playing the crap game she goes in the Mission she reaches for the light string to turn off the light she doesn't ever get the string in her hand but the light goes off.
Character mistake: In the restaurant scene, Sky bets Nathan would not be able to tell what color the bow tie he has on. Nathan says "No bet," pulls down his tie, and sees "polka dots." Polka dots is a pattern, not a color. The colors of Nathan's tie is black and white.
Deliberate mistake: During the song Adelaide's Lament, Adelaide goes to her medicine cabinet, opens it, and there is a cut to a shot from "inside" the cabinet as she surveys all the medicine she takes to treat her "cold." From the inside, the cabinet is almost twice as wide as it is when it shows her open and later close it from the outside.
