Continuity mistake: In the girls' lavatory, Lockhart tries to bolt so Harry and Ron stop him and push him back. When Harry says, "You first," in this first shot his cloak not only drapes over the sink to his left, it's also under his hand's tight grip of the sink's wall. However in the next shot, still gripping the wall, his cloak now hangs behind him. Then after Ron says, "Better you than us," Lockhart's cloak is positioned the same way as the first shot. However, in the Duelling Club scene, in the close ups you can see that Harry is the taller one, if only by a little bit, and Draco's face is rounder and more childish. Obviously shot out of sequence. Continuity mistake: When Hermione pours the Polyjuice potion into the glasses some of the thick liquid drips down to the top and side of the sink. In both the close-up of Harry's bubbling hand and the shot after the transformation of Goyle/Harry leaning his hands on the sink the Polyjuice potion drips are gone and the sink is clean. The towel near the window hangs differently in this shot, as well as the earlier overhead shot of Harry as he stands at the sink. (Visible on DVD fullscreen.) (01:19:35 - 01:20:45)

In the wide shot as Harry trips, when his left hand touches the ground, the glasses are visible above his head. As his right hand touches the ground the glasses are again visible above his head. As the rest of his body touches ground, Harry's feet swing up in the air behind him and the glasses are now in the air way in front of him, just before they fly off to the left of the screen. However, in the next close-up the glasses are right in front of him and bounce toward his face. (02:10:00)

Then as McGonagall says, "Now, three of the founders coexisted quite harmoniously..." they're playing down below again. Yet, when McGonagall says, "...be kept within all-magic families. In other words, pure-bloods," they're back up on the perch, nestled together again. (00:48:50)

Trivia: When Harry, Ron and Fang begin to walk through the Dark Forest there is a close-up of Fang walking towards the camera. At the start of the next shot, at the bottom right of the screen the Ford Anglia is visible. Although the scene of them seeing the car before it rescues them is deleted, this one shot remains of the car 'watching' them. (01:43:40)

Question: Does any one know the Japanese golfer joke Uncle Vernon was telling at the beginning of the movie?

Answer: The joke goes like this, "A California business man, while in Japan for some business meetings and a few rounds of golf, arrived in Tokyo a day earlier than expected. Feeling lonely that evening, he employed the services of a beautiful young Japanese girl to be his companion for the evening. Although the Japanese girl spoke very little English and the businessman spoke no Japanese, their passion roared and in the heat of the moment she began yelling "Machigatta ana. Machigatta ana" Hearing this, the Californian believed he had pleased his female Japanese friend and soon afterwards went to sleep. The next day while playing golf with his Japanese business colleague, his Japanese partner holed his shot from 170 yards away. Wanting to impress his friend, the Californian began yelling, "Machigatta ana!" The Japanese business man turned to the Californian and with a confused look on his face asked, "What do you mean wrong hole?"

Answer: The punchline is actually quite vulgar, but you can read a copy of the joke at http://www.sugarquill.net/forum/index.php?s=1a43217a81cc245555ad6ac82d3bcc5b&showtopic=6214&view=findpost&p=225388
