The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Upon hearing that vandals have desecrated a graveyard where her grandfather is buried, Sally recruits her boyfriend Jerry, her brother Franklyn, and her friends Pam and Kirk to investigate. On a side trip to the grandfather's deserted farm, the travellers pick up a slimy hitchhiker who cuts himself and slashes Franklyn. After arriving at the farm, Pam and Kirk search for an old swimming hole--Kirk hears a generator and believes he can find some gasoline. He enters the house hoping to find the owner. Unfortunately, this is the home of the hitchhiker, as well as Leatherface, who has some surprises for the travellers consisting of sledgehammers, chainsaws, and assorted cutlery.

Continuity mistake: As the teenagers pull up into the gas station, look at the position of the gas pumps hose and its shadow. In the next shot the gas pumps shadow has vanished and the gas pumps hose is positioned differently. (00:18:20)

Trivia: Many praise the movie for being well acted with such a low budget. Two performers that are singled out are Marilyn Burns and Paul Partain, who play Sally and Franklyn. In the scenes where they squabble, the acting is quite impressive. But was it really acting? The two performers, in reality, could not stand each other.

Question: What happens to the guy in the yellow shirt, who hits Leatherface in the face with the wrench? The main character leaves with the guy in the truck but the yellow shirt guy doesn't. And we don't see him get killed, it just goes to Leatherface doing his dance. Are we supposed to assume that he dies?

Answer: The yellow shirt guy keeps running off screen while the main character jumps into the back of the truck. Since Leatherface's attention was solely on her, it's assumed the guy survives seeing as no one left in the Family is in pursuit.
