Continuity mistake: As Hawes walks down the stairs he begins to lose control of the shovels as one gets caught up in a vine on the side of the steps and as they twist away in his hands he nearly drops them. He stops on the 3rd step from the bottom to adjust the shovels. In the next shot he's on the 4th step and both shovels are stacked neatly on his shoulder as he walks down the steps without a problem. Revealing mistake: This is not a real cemetery - all the tombstones and monuments are fake. There are no names or inscriptions at all. Tommy is running around shining his light and pretending to read blank tombstones. The only real tombstone with a name is Jason's. (00:02:05)

FreDroDaGod

Continuity mistake: The hands that open the coffin in the closeups are not Thom Mathews'. The older looking hands belong to the director Tom McLoughlin. The insert shots of the hands opening the coffin are not filmed in the same hole as the other scenes. Tommy only dug down enough to open the coffin lid. This hole is deeper on the side you can see the entire side of the coffin that is still buried in other shots. Tom McLoughlin is standing beside the coffin while Thom Mathews is bending over above it to the side. (00:03:58)

Continuity mistake: When the group of kids enter the police station, Cort has his headphones around his neck, then a few shots later, he takes them off his ears. (00:05:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy grabs the fence post and goes to stab Jason he starts the stab on ground level the next shot he is actually down in the coffin. The scenes are cut together very well - it almost appears like he jumped in the casket while spearing Jason. (00:05:20)

FreDroDaGod

Continuity mistake: When Tommy picks up the mask before throwing it into Jason's grave he holds the mask with one hand only. But when it cuts to him throwing it, he is holding the mask with both hands. (00:05:40)

Mortug

Continuity mistake: When Tommy throws Jason's mask in his grave, when Jason wakes up from the lightning bolt. Jason picks his mask up off the ground yet Tommy threw it in his grave. (00:05:40 - 00:08:10)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy holds the mask in both hands before he throws it in the coffin, the strap on the right side of the mask is not connected to the other two straps. They are connected minutes later when Jason puts on the mask. (00:05:59)

Revealing mistake: When the lightning strikes the metal pole in Jason's grave for the second time, a wire is visible attached to the tree where the electrical explosion appears. (00:06:00)

Mortug

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, when Tommy dig up Jason's grave, they have a close up of Jason's eyes, and they are brown. But, at the end when Megan cuts his neck with the propeller, his eyes are blue. Then, they are brown again for the last shot of Jason. (00:06:10 - 01:17:55)

Revealing mistake: When we see a closeup of Jason opening his eyes for the first time he is supposed to be lying down in his coffin. One of the maggots falls across his face. If he was really lying down the maggot would never fall like that. (00:06:15)

Mortug

Continuity mistake: In the film Tommy pulls the rod out of Jason and you see Tommy remove his right hand glove. In the next shot, Tommy is taking off the right glove again. (00:07:00)

Revealing mistake: You can see the light used to simulate lightning turn on and off in the reflection of the eye. The light is circular and right beside another stage light. Real lightning would have outshined the other light and the entire pupil would have flashed white. You can also see it again in the next closeup of the eye. (00:07:00)

Continuity mistake: When Hawes runs away he can be seen in the background tripping and falling over. He is getting back up and racing away to the left toward the truck. The fall may not be a mistake but at no point is he shown coming back. A few shots later Hawes appears out of nowhere behind Jason to the right and attacks with the shovel. (00:07:25)

FreDroDaGod

Revealing mistake: The shovel that Hawes uses to hit Jason is a fake breakaway shovel. It doesn't just break the wooden handle the metal part of the shovel itself breaks into pieces. Regardless of how hard Jason's head is Hawes could not swing that hard. (00:08:08)

FreDroDaGod

Revealing mistake: In the film Tommy runs to his truck after Jason has been brought back to life. Tommy is seen jumping into his truck and the engine rev's before he has even put the key in the ignition. (00:08:10)

Revealing mistake: When Jason turns to heart punch Hawes his hand is already bloody before he punches. The blood flies off his hand when he pulls his arm back. A piece of bloody meat can be seen on top of his hand when his arm comes forward. (00:08:12)

FreDroDaGod

Continuity mistake: Tommy's got Jason's mask with the crack in it but the strap is fixed. Part 4 saw his sister cut the left strap in half, knocking it off Jason's face. (00:10:15)

Suggested correction: In Part 4 Jason's mask has snap on buttons connecting the straps to the mask. When Trish swings the machete at Jason she grazes the mask under the strap and it just unsnapped, it did not cut the strap. This is visible in the closeup of the mask on the ground where it falls. The real mistake here is the mask in this movie is different and does not use snap on buttons to attach the straps. The straps are attached with rivets that don't pop off.

FreDroDaGod

Revealing mistake: When Tommy goes to the Sheriff's station to warn everybody about Jason, Sheriff Garris ignores this warning. Tommy freaks out and grabs a shotgun but Sheriff Garris throws him to Deputy Rick, who drops the fast-food boxes he was holding. We can see and hear that these boxes are empty when they go flying. (00:10:40)

Tommy: I went to go cremate Jason but I fucked up.
Deputy Rick: You got that right.

Question: Why did Jason go into the children's cabin the first and second times? And why did he just draw close to Nancy when she saw him?

JohnShel91

Chosen answer: The first and second visits are unexplained. However he drew close to Nancy to install fear in her.

Ssiscool

Answer: Yes, I don't believe he was trying to scare her; I think he was just looking at her out of genuine curiosity.

Answer: In all his attacks he's never killed children, it's like he's never seen them before. Plus, it's almost he trying to recall memories of what he's looking at. "Where have I seen these little people before."

The children might possibly remind Jason of his own days at the camp when he was a child, before he drowned.
