Revealing mistake: When Jack and Annie are about to slide out from under the bus, if you look closely when we see Annie hold on to Jack's back, you can see stunt wires visible attached to both characters. (01:29:55)

Revealing mistake: When Jack and Annie are getting off the bus via the access panel on the floor you can see wheels on the bottom of it. You can also see that Keanu Reeves was replaced by an obvious stuntman. (01:30:00)

Plot hole: The police thought they could catch the bomber at the ransom drop because he did not know that the bus had exploded. However, the exploding bus would have created a huge plume of smoke that would have been reported by the media. (01:30:00)

Suggested correction: The news reporters at the airport had been blocked by the Police from reporting. Reporters that weren't at the airport would see a cloud of smoke but wouldn't know what was causing it.

Yes, but the reporters would still report it, and the bomber would know what had caused it.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the Pacific Courier Freight plane gets blown up, you can see that it is being towed alongside another plane, and some people standing/walking around next to it. In the next shot, where we see the camera moving closer and closer to the plane from the bus's perspective, the runway the plane was just being towed on is gone, as is the plane it was going past a moment ago along with the people. There was no time between shots for the plane to have been moved so far away. (01:30:35)

Continuity mistake: The paint that sprays on Payne's face changes splatter pattern throughout the rest of the scenes with Payne. (01:35:30)

Continuity mistake: When Jack tells the other cop to "turn it on" in reference to the money tracker, soon as they realize Payne has the money, and Jack runs out to the garbage can, the red car that screeches to a stop to avoid hitting him is a red Ford Tempo. In the very next shot from the opposite direction, it's a red Mazda Protege. (01:36:55)

Continuity mistake: When Payne shoots the train driver in the back, blood appears on his shirt. A few seconds later when he is falling down, his shirt is clean. (01:37:10)

Ssiscool

Audio problem: As Payne cries "My Money!" when shooting at Jack, who is on top of the train, his mouth doesn't match what he is saying. (01:38:50)

Continuity mistake: When Payne is about to board the subway train with Annie, he fires warning shots into the air and she ducks her head in response. But she repeats the same action in the next shot. (01:39:30)

Other mistake: Towards the end when Dennis Hopper is on the subway train with Sandra Bullock, he has a gun in one hand and the detonator in the other. However, when the camera cuts to a close-up of him handcuffing Sandra to the pole, both hands are empty. If he took his hand off the detonator, the explosives attached to Sandra should've exploded, but they didn't. In the next shot, both items are back in his hand. (01:39:50)

Continuity mistake: Payne has just forced his way into the subway car with Annie as his hostage. Jack shoots the lock off an emergency door in pursuit. The bullet holes on the two sides of this door do not match. (01:40:05)

Visible crew/equipment: When Jack is running alongside the subway train trying to find a way in, a camera and its operator can be seen on the window's interior reflection. (01:40:20)

Visible crew/equipment: When Jack is trying to pry open the subway train's doors, a boom mic can be seen mounted on the car's interior, suspended from the ceiling. (01:40:30)

Continuity mistake: On the subway train where Payne opens the money bag, a dye pack goes off and leaves a purple stain on the dead man's handle. But moments later in the shot where Payne stops firing his machine gun at the ceiling, the stain has vanished. (01:42:35)

Revealing mistake: When Payne opens the money bag to see a dye bomb explode, he is wearing a transparent protective face shield (partially visible). (01:42:35)

Suggested correction: This needs clarifying. The dye looks like it goes directly on his face in real life, and no protection is visible at all.

Visible crew/equipment: When Payne is going crazy on the subway train, and starts shooting his gun at Jack on the roof, in one shot before Jack drops his gun, you can see a camera come in the shot. (01:42:50)

Revealing mistake: When Jack is fighting Howard on top of the train, for a second or two, you can see a blue screen behind Howard instead of the regular background. Someone forgot to add the chroma key background in post. (01:44:05)

Continuity mistake: After Payne loses his head, Jack says "Yeah? Well I'm taller." Between shots, Jack's right arm instantly goes from resting at his side to a lifted position. (01:44:35)

Revealing mistake: When the train is sliding along the ground near the end, there are sparks coming from the underneath (supposedly where the metal scrapes the pavement). Look more closely, and you can see that the sparks are coming from a bit of the train that's not touching the pavement anywhere. (01:44:55)

Speed mistake picture

Visible crew/equipment: On the train, Jack hears Mac saying the track isn't finished, then Jack becomes aware of the broken emergency stop button. When Jack walks back over to Annie and tells her they have to jump, we can see the reflection of the standing camera operator on the right door's window, and the reflection of a crouching crew member (possibly boom operator) on the left door's window. Definitely crew given they're meant to be alone on the train. (01:45:55)

Super Grover

Swat Cop: Anything else that'll keep this elevator from falling?
Jack: Yeah. The basement.

Trivia: The famous "Dukes of Hazzard" sequence was the filmmakers' wry commentary on the uncompleted state of Interstate 105, which had become a running joke among LA motorists. It was finally (and quite uncoincidentally) completed in late 1993 shortly before the film's release, years behind schedule.

Question: When they notice there's a gap in the freeway they keep to that route. However, there were other routes available. Why not take them?

Answer: If they had, there might have been the possibility that to get to these routes they would have to go down a different road and depending on which route they take they might have to slow down to make the turn which would likely cause the bus to drop below 50 mph. Better to just keep going straight and keep the bus going. There's also the possibility that had they taken a different route, they would have to deal with a lot of traffic especially if there was traffic stopped at a red light. By using the highway, there'd be no traffic lights and less traffic to deal with.
