Continuity mistake: The rain comes and goes from moment to moment. This is especially noticeable during the extremely long shootout sequence where it is alternately raining/not raining between cuts.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Frannie and Detective Malloy are standing outside the police car, after Frannie was picked up by the two police officers, outside her apartment, you can see a girl with a white shirt with black sleeves and a very short skirt passing by. After a few seconds, Detective Malloy goes back into the car and you can see the exact same girl passing by at the same direction as before and she even wears the exact same clothes.
Continuity mistake: The first time at the station, Sweetu looks back at the camera representing Aman with a confused look on her face, mouth open a little bit, teeth clenched. During the Heartbeat instrumental song when they show a flashback of the same moment with Aman in the shot, Sweetu looks at him with a big smile on her face. You can see this because when her face turns her mouth is visibly wide open and her lips are curled upward. (00:10:35 - 00:20:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the three Confederate soldiers are about to be executed for desertion, a blindfold is placed around the deserter on the right. It is a narrow strip of cloth covering his eyes. The camera pans to the firing squad and then back to the three men. The blindfold on the deserter on the right, is now much wider.
Continuity mistake: As Nicolas Cage is smoking a cigarette in his car when his daughter comes into view for the 1st time. The camera angle flips between him, him with her in the background, to his key, back to him, and back to him with her in the background. Each time the angle changes so does the length of his cigarette. The time span is only a matter of 10-15 secs as she walks up and then starts to walk away, but his cigarette ends up being longer than when she walked up. (00:25:25)
Continuity mistake: The chain with which El and Carolina are linked together gets cut open with a welding torch. When the chain falls down on the ground it's intact again. (00:34:50)
Continuity mistake: At the very beginning of the movie, in the shot where Val Kilmer is unconscious and lying down on the ground, he first appears with his right hand facing up, then facing down, then facing up again.
Continuity mistake: During the scene in which the two main characters are diving, before the boat leaves them, Susan's snorkel swaps from the left side of her mask to the right and back again.
Continuity mistake: When Isabelle arrives in front of Roxy's apartment, you can see the cab driver close the trunk after he removes Isabelle's bags, but when Charles-Henri hands the driver his bags a moment later the trunk is still open.
Continuity mistake: Curtis is helping Molly seal the windows by screwing them shut. He hands the drill to Molly and she holds it up by her chest. When Claudia walks into the room Molly lowers the drill down in front of her below her waist. Then there is a quick cut back to Molly and Curtis as he says, " well that should do it", and the drill is back up in front of her chest again as she lowers it down a second time.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning when the text of the book is seen the format of the date of the peoples death is MM/DD/YY later in the movie the dates are seen again and the format has changed to DD - MONTH - YYYY.
Continuity mistake: As April walks up the stairs after finding out that her family left, she pops all the balloons. But when she reaches a turn in the stairs, she rips down the orange crepe paper and lets it fall to the steps. The crepe paper was still stapled to the wall though, and in reality would have ripped instead of all coming down in one piece.
Continuity mistake: When Pancho and Frank are bathing in the lake, you see an Italian Horn on Frank's necklace. The camera angle changes and it is now a medallion.
Continuity mistake: In the "No Problem" scene, Alex lights up a cigarette while waiting for Isaach and then leaves it in the ashtray. Later on, when Isaach finally arrives, Alex offers him a cigarette and lights one for himself. The cigarette left in the ashtray disappears in the next shot.
Continuity mistake: When Angelina Jolie is chasing her son into the bedroom trying to put his pyjama top on, he is wearing a singlet. When the dad walks in and she finally gets the top on him, the top few buttons are undone and the singlet has now gone.
Continuity mistake: When Fin meets Emily in the Mill Bar, the amount of beer in his glass goes up and down without him buying a round or replenishing his glass.
Continuity mistake: When Penn is drinking whiskey, he puts the bottle on the table, with no hull, later it has a hull and then it's again with no hull.
Continuity mistake: When Ray and Eva are at his house playing pool, they stop to talk and Ray has both his hands on top of the pool stick during the scenes shot from the front and during the scenes shot from the back he's just holding the stick by the shaft.
Continuity mistake: When John comes to get Dawn and they leave Sally's house, the Chihuahua isn't with them, but all of a sudden it is back with them on and off throughout the movie. (00:05:45)
Continuity mistake: When Julia Roberts is sitting on the couch with the male teacher, after he pours her a drink, they move the camera and show her and her drink is almost empty and then they show him and the drink is almost full. They then repeat going from her with an almost empty glass to him with her glass almost full.
