Character mistake: When they're on the island and the INGen helicopters are flying in, Jeff Goldblum takes the binoculars and looks through the wrong end. (00:32:30)
Character mistake: During the scene in which they are all arguing whether or not film sequels are better than the original or not, someone says Sigourney Weaver's classic line from the movie Aliens: "Get away from her you bitch", and Randy makes a smart comeback and tries to correct him by saying "I think the correct line was 'stay away from her you bitch'. This is a film class, right?" Wrong - the first guy was right. This line is truly unconvincing for the Randy character, being a big movie buff and all. Jamie Kennedy decided to improvise as Joshua Jackson actually made the initial mistake by saying the wrong line, causing a different mistake. (00:16:25)
Character mistake: Debbie is doing an "All 80s weekend" on her radio show, and the film's soundtrack is based on exactly the same idea. Debbie plays 'Rudie Can't Fail' by The Clash. This is from the London Calling album, which was released right at the end on 1979 in most countries. The song was never released as a single in any year, so it's definitely a 70s song. What's interesting abut this mistake is that the soundtrack was selected by former Clash lead singer Joe Strummer.
Character mistake: When Nicolas returns from Mexico and goes to the gate of his house, he sees a sign that says his house is being sold at public auction. The word "foreclosure" is spelled incorrectly. It is spelled "forclosure."
Character mistake: When Troy is getting the bomb ready, the screen shows it will blow in 216 hours, which is 9 days. Yet the agent tells Archer it will blow in 6 days.
Character mistake: When the police scan Leeloo the first time, the computer reads "Commencin" instead of "Commencing."
Character mistake: The downed firetruck was referred to as engine 17, however it is actually engine 23.
Character mistake: When Ripley asked the doctor how they "got" her, he replies from blood samples on Fury 16. This is in reference to the planet in Alien 3, but it was called Fury 161. (00:11:00)
Character mistake: At the meeting of the MVD and FBI where they are discussing Terek's hiding place, she mentions that he's in the town of Porvoo and that it is 60 kilometers west Helsinki. Porvoo is actually 50 kilometers northeast of Helsinki. (00:12:45)
Character mistake: Near the end of the movie when Ray shoots Odell, Ray checks Odell's pulse using his thumb. Since the thumb has an artery in it, you should never check someone's pulse using your thumb. As a cop, he should know this because I'm sure he's taken basic first aid.
Character mistake: When they decide to crash land the plane and touch down on the road the pilot either doesn't cut power to the engines or doesn't shut them off. Towards the end, it looks like the engine is still at full power.
Character mistake: When Carver is to go live to the World, his assistant is counting down 5, 4, 3, 2. She does not say 1 and 'Now', as they never do, in order for her voice not to be heard on the broadcast. But if you do the counting, Carver starts before she would have reached 'Now'. Consequently there would be a risk that Carver's first words were not heard on the live broadcast. That would be very unprofessional.
Character mistake: Wouldn't the president be concerned that the alarm system, which Luther deactivated, was deactivated?
Suggested correction: How would he have known that it was deactivated? It wasn't even his mansion. He was drunk after all and focused on the girl.
Character mistake: When they first receive the alien signal, they decode it and play it as a TV signal which shows Hitler speaking at the opening of the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Kent translates what Hitler is saying as "I declare the Games in Berlin, at the celebration of the first Olympics of the New Era, as opened." Hitler actually says "the *eleventh* Olympics of the New Era." The "New Era" doesn't refer to some Nazi concept, it's used to separate the modern Olympics from the ancient ones in Greece.
Character mistake: Julie Madison, when having dinner with Bruce Wayne, says that he just called her Ivy. He didn't, and never does in that scene.
Character mistake: Bentley mistakenly calls Melissa, the kidnapped sister of Ozzie "Gabby", which is the name of her friend.
Character mistake: White says Exley's father died in the line of duty. Exley said he was off duty when he was shot, and he didn't correct him.
Character mistake: Casanova refers to Cross's gun as a "Glock," but it is a Sig.
Character mistake: Talking down Missy and her natural creepiness, Julie reminds her that she visited 'the other day'. No, it wasn't; it was just a few hours earlier.
Character mistake: When Barr denies giving Jeff's wife a ride, Jeff says this was in the last half hour or so - but considering the time it would take the truck to go to Belle's (5 miles away), the wife to call a tow truck, back from Belle's, then Jeff waiting extra time, then fixing the jeep, heading to Belle's, the time he spent inside, then driving along the road until he saw the truck would in no way be only a half hour...more like an hour or two at best.
Suggested correction: Jeff is obviously in distress because he can't find his wife. Is it not possible that because of the stress he's under, the amount of time that has passed is different for him? Besides, we know the wife never made it to Belle's. Later, we see she's been transferred to another vehicle.
