Deliberate mistake: At graduation, after Troy is handed the diploma, in the overhead shot the graduates on the left and right stand-up from their seats, then turn and walk towards each other. All their seats simply disappear between shots. Obviously done deliberately for the dance sequence, but a mistake nonetheless.Super Grover
Deliberate mistake: When Harry drops the Monster Book of Monsters, in the first shot facing Harry's feet as the book chomps at him, he runs backwards a few steps and he stands at the foot of the bed. However, in the shot facing the fireplace, there is actually plenty of floorspace now, much more than other shots, between the rug and bed for Harry to continue to run backwards. Deliberate mistake: When Elliott and ET are on the bike heading to the forest on Halloween night, ET is covered with the white sheet, but in the closeup of ET's face right before the bike flies he's covered with the white blanket (note the material), which is from the scene later in the movie.Super Grover
Deliberate mistake: When Hagrid steps off the motorbike while holding young Harry, the Dursley's house (with a small bush to the right of the front door) is visible directly behind McGonagall. The house is fully attached on both sides to homes with a one car garage. Yet after Vernon asks, "Who'd be writing to you?" in the shot of the owl dropping the letter which flies through the front door mail slot, the house to the left of the Dursleys (when facing the front) has a two car garage, is not attached to the Dursley's house and is quite a bit away from the Dursley's house as well. Then in Chamber of Secrets, the house to the right (when facing the back) is attached once again in the same manner as at the start of this film with young Harry. (Visible on DVD widescreen.) Deliberate mistake: When Tarzan fights with the leopard, it scratches his chest. However after they fall into the pit and Tarzan comes out carrying the dead leopard, the scratches on his chest have amazingly healed. [It is a long-standing Disney tradition that no evidence of violence is shown on screen. Still a mistake, but there's why].
Deliberate mistake: When the characters are crossing the street to get to the toy store, Mr. Potato Head gets his foot stuck on some gum. From the first angle, the gum is at the half way point of the rolling cement drainage pipe. When he barely escapes, the gum is near the lip of the pipe, a foot or so from the end. As the gum sticks to the passing pipe, it appears to be half way between those two points. (00:38:15)
Deliberate mistake: At no time can a player on the ice play without a helmet. It may be legal in professional hockey, but never in youth league games, world championships or not (This happens when the goalie comes out of the crease and takes his mask off to shoot his "knuckle-puck", as well as the penalty shot in the first movie.)
Deliberate mistake: After the Tusken Raider has attacked Luke, he raises his stick over his head and shouts. The movement of his clothing is extremely unnatural. During the editing, they put the same footage forward, then backward many times, to add emphasis to his movements, but it looks decidedly odd. (00:29:02)Dr Wilson
Deliberate mistake: Wendy gets a needle and thread, then shows Peter the needle. As she says, "This may hurt a little," she shows the sharp needle to him. When she does the light in the room becomes brighter at this point (not a deliberate pun) as compared to the dimly lit nursery until this moment. It stays brightly lit until they leave for Neverland. Deliberate mistake: At the elephant graveyard, little Simba claws Shenzi in the face. When Mufasa saves Simba from the hyenas, the cuts are gone, a few seconds later. [This was done intentionally, I'm sure, for two reasons. The first being, Disney doesn't let fresh scars linger on the screen too long. Secondly, during that same scene when Mufasa rescues Simba & Nala, he claws Banzai in the rear. To stress the point later in the movie, that severe scar is shown too, but only briefly, it too disappears because of reason 1. Still a "mistake", but there's why.] (00:21:50)
Deliberate mistake: Towards the end of the movie fish are seen to swim down in order to submerge the net in which they have been caught. Although the attempt seems logical, it actually needs power against the net to push it down. None of the fish seem to touch the net at the bottom however and if it is the whole mass of fish achieving it, then the bottom fish should have been squashed against the net which (again) isn't the case. 'What brings the net down?' is the question here. (Done deliberately by Disney/Pixar to be visually aesthetically pleasing.)
Deliberate mistake: When Boo laughs repeatedly while playing hide-n-seek with Sully in the men's room, nothing happens to the electricity - no surges as with all other times she laughs. [In the audio commentary by the directors, they explained that it would've been distracting if an energy surge occurred every time Boo laughed, so they simply didn't address the issue. A reasonable course of action, but still a mistake.] (00:37:30)
Deliberate mistake: When Marty is being chased by the Indians, a wide shot with the DeLorean at the bottom of the screen coming towards us and the Indians following reveals the entire background for a mile or two. However, there are no cavalry visible anywhere despite the fact that they pass over the cave in the following shot only five seconds after the last Indian does. (00:19:15 - 00:20:20)
