Deliberate mistake: The priest that Ray kills doesn't stagger out of the confessional booth toward the little boy until he's already been shot twice, yet when Ray sees the boy he accidentally shot, he is still kneeling in the prayer position and therefore did not move or react whatsoever to the first few gunshots only a few feet away.
Deliberate mistake: Frank Beardsley moves his family into an old, defunct lighthouse, and subsequently makes a project of restoring the rotating lamp and actually running it. But lighthouses are navigational devices. Each one in use has its own unique, catalogued period, which identifies it and therefore helps a distant ship determine its own position. By running a "phantom" lighthouse, Frank, a career Coast Guard officer, risks confusing ships' navigators at sea. No real nautical officer would do such a thing.
Deliberate mistake: When the boy jumps on the Police motor tricycle and his father jumps on as pillion passenger it is obvious in the subsequent scenes that a small but adult stand-in is riding the trike.
Deliberate mistake: When Scrat's coconut falls from the tree, it has already had its husk removed. The directors confirm this on the DVD commentary. They may have been worried that a lot of their audience would not recognise a coconut with its husk on. (01:11:45)
Deliberate mistake: The scene where Topher Grace is jogging on his treadmill in his apartment is reversed. His wedding ring is on his right hand. In scenes before and after, his wedding ring was on his left hand.
Deliberate mistake: The Benchwarmers originally had only three players, and then only one who could actually hit. Despite this, none of the (supposedly competent) little league coaches chose to simply walk all the players and force an out.
Deliberate mistake: It's Christmas in Denver and there is snow on the ground. However, there still are quite a fair amount of leaves on the trees in various shots.
Deliberate mistake: Mays Gilliam and the girl is standing and are about to kiss someone suddenly shouts, "Freeze." They are now totally surrounded by cars and armed policemen. Wouldn't Gilliam and the girl notice them arriving before they were about to kiss and before the man shouted? (00:49:00)
Deliberate mistake: In the hotel bar at night, when Edward is playing the piano and Vivian goes to find him, after Edward has dismissed everyone else from the room Vivian sits on top of the piano and puts her feet on the keyboard. Her feet go onto the keys in the middle of the keyboard but the sound that comes out is from the bottom and the top notes of the piano.
Deliberate mistake: During the early rehearsals for "Yip Yip Yaphank", a group of men are around the piano singing "God Bless America", and we hear the following lyrics: "Stand beside her/And guide her/TO THE RIGHT/With a light from above". This is NOT an error; I'm guessing that those were the actual lyrics of the rough draft, with the capitalized line above changed to the present "Through the night/With a light." at a later date. Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Sam is swinging from the hospital window, you see him first from the inside. Now he is obviously being pushed (from a crew member) so it looks like he's moving back and forth smoothly. However, when seen from the outside he couldn't be pushed and so when swinging by himself, he was actually bouncing off the walls. Inside this would have been seen. Also, inside it seems that the sky is clear, though outside there is a tree by the window.
Deliberate mistake: When the limo driven by Gwen (Sandra Bullock) runs over the white picket fencing it's not Sandra's face behind the wheel in the exterior shots. Also, when Gwen runs over the short white picket fencing, in the interior shot from the car the corner of an 'L' shape fence is being hit, then in the front exterior shot the end of a smaller fence is hit. This is cut from a longer sequence, the smaller fencing is seen way in the distance in the first shot. (00:07:45)
Deliberate mistake: In the scene where Mr. Bean is hitch hiking, right before the shot where the truck runs over the wooden box, there is a wide angled shot. The road is very long and it is clear that there is no truck coming. In the next shot, the truck suddenly zooms by from the right of the screen. This can also be seen on the trailer. (00:44:30)
Deliberate mistake: When Penny is loaded onto the ambulance at the end, her gurney is rolled straight in. This is wrong, the paramedics will collapse the wheels and slide the gurney into locks to hold it still during the drive. It was done this way since Mittens and Rhino were hiding in the collapsible section.
Deliberate mistake: The huge bruise on Tommy's face, from the board hitting him, disappears in less than a day.
Deliberate mistake: Riccardo is a stowaway on the ship, but he was standing on the dock when it pulled away.
Deliberate mistake: The Army Colonel's Class A uniform does not have a name plate on the flap of the right breast pocket as per regulations. If the Colonel's name plate was present, there would be no twist to the movie. (01:21:50)
Deliberate mistake: Foils, rapiers and other fencing weapons did not appear before around the 16th/17th century, yet the main characters (in an approximate 8th to 10th century setting) use them extensively. I know that back in the days when the movie was made, the swashbuckling genre was quite popular, but it still is a reality error.
Deliberate mistake: In the final scene when the four cars are driving away there is a road sign that shows how many miles it is to Chicago (where the main characters are from). In reality there would not be such a sign because there is not one direct route from Vegas to Chicago. A typical road sign would show the nearest cities.
Deliberate mistake: During the bathroom scene where Jimmy is trying to get the key to unlock himself from the handcuffs after the little Asian boy had knocked over the garbage can, the toilet paper roll should have had the cardboard tube attached to it upon reaching Jimmy and should not have various pieces of garbage on it.
