Factual error: Sheldon has a rigid schedule. Halo Night is known to be on Wednesday night. Penny sleeps on the couch in Sheldon and Leonard's apartment. The following morning, Sheldon cannot watch Doctor Who on BBC America because Penny is sleeping on his spot on the couch. He states that he has been watching Doctor Who every Saturday at 6:15 a.m. The following morning should be Thursday.

The Nerdvana Annihilation - S1-E14

Factual error: The time machine in this episode is supposedly the same one used in the H.G. Wells movie, but there are mistakes in the controls that would have been obvious to the characters: 1. When Leonard first gets into the machine he talks about traveling into the past and says something like "I'm setting the date to..." That is the method used to operate the Wayback Machine in the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon, but not the time machine in the H.G. Wells movie. Rod Taylor could not set the desired date on the controls, he simply used the lever to move forward and backward through time and the date display updated automatically to show the current date. 2. In the movie the default position of the lever was at a 45 degree angle. Pushing the lever forward moved the machine into the future, pulling back on the lever moved the machine into the past. In the TV show the default position of the lever is vertical and Leonard pulls the lever backwards to move forward into the future - opposite of the movie.

The Excelsior Acquisition - S3-E16

Plot hole: In Series 1, Episode 7, "The Dumpling Paradox, " Sheldon makes an oblique reference to his financial status: "Frankly, if I could afford the rent, I'd ask you [Leonard] to leave, " meaning he cannot pay the rent on his two bedroom apartment by himself - not that he doesn't want to, he can't. However, in "The Execlsior Acquisition, " we find that he does not even cash his pay cheques. He doesn't even deposit them into a bank account - he leaves them in a drawer in his desk. In Series 2 Episode 14 "The Financial Permeability", he lends Penny a large amount of money from a huge bankroll he just happens to have lying about - again, without cashing his pay cheques! He is obviously independently wealthy. Either he doesn't have enough money to afford the rent or he has enough to work without being paid while practically giving large amounts of cash away. Can't be both.

Suggested correction: He doesn't say he can't financially afford the rent; he may have meant emotionally or functionally. He may feel that he needs the social support from living with other people. He couldn't afford not to have them with him.

What nonsense. He says, "Frankly, if I could afford the rent, I'd ask you to leave." If I could afford the rent – he is talking about money, not some vague, waffly jibber-jabber about emotional support.

He definitely meant emotionally. I just watched a random clip on YouTube from when Penny and Leonard were wanting to move in together and Sheldon lost it (and they mention it's not the first time). Saying he couldn't afford it is his excuse because he wouldn't admit (at that time) that he would be devastated.

Question: How come Raj has no problem speaking to his mother, but, when around other women, such as Penny, he immediately stops talking? Also, why does he have to whisper in someone's ear if he wants to ask Penny something?

Answer: Because Raj's selective mutism seems to be caused by women that Raj sees (on some sort of conscious or subconscious level) as a potential sexual partner. An attribute that wouldn't apply to either his sister or mother.
