Corrected entry: Sheckly is revealed, at the end, to have hallucinated the plane and the entire investigation. How did his hallucination correctly presage the names and faces of the real airline employees, Malloy and Bengston, neither of whom he'd ever met? The Twilight Zone it may be, but unbelievably, Sheckly doesn't even seem surprised at this impossible occurrence. (00:20:00)
Other mistake: When Lillian calls Oliver, she tells him that the car stalled at 3rd and Park - the original scene of the accident. Later, when Oliver goes into his garage in the middle of the night, the car turns on its radio and goes to a news broadcast about the hit-and-run that took place at 3rd and Elm.
[A bomb in Wadsworth's room is seconds from going off, causing the Chancellor to panic].
Chancellor: Please, please let me out. In the name of God, let me out. Let me out! Let me out!
Wadsworth: Yes, Chancellor. In the name of God, I will let you out.
Trivia: Johnson's script originally featured an ending in which Jesse loses the game and yet finds himself still alive. Seeing this, Fats explains that he will die "as all second raters die: you'll be buried and forgotten without me touching you. If you'd beaten me, you'd have lived forever." This ending was eventually filmed when this episode was remade in 1989, during the first revival of The Twilight Zone.
Mr. Dingle, the Strong - S2-E19
Question: What was the reason for giving Mr. Dingle super strength?
Answer: It's explained in the episode. The aliens are experimenting to see how humans react to various scenarios. This just happens to involve them using super strength.

Correction: The final scene of the episode shows all the various investigators in an office. It is revealed that Sheckly has been hallucinating the entire investigation of (and this is very important) a plane that had disappeared 19 years ago! Sheckly was accurately able to recreate the plane, situation, and persons involved because they make it very clear that they had all worked with him on the investigation (of the plane he's hallucinating about) but that that occurred "some 17 or 18 years ago..." He isn't hallucinating the people, but subconsciously remembering them. Since it has been almost 20 years since they'd all been together, Malloy doesn't remember who Sheckly is and is reminded by the other investigator. It is never insinuated that Sheckly is a stranger.
