Mr. Monk and the Voodoo Curse - S8-E7

Corrected entry: When being interviewed by the police after her uncle died, Angeline says, "I'm an ER nurse. I tried everything. I did cardio-cerebral resuscitation and I just... it was too late." There is no such thing as cardio-cerebral resuscitation. The correct term is cardiopulmonary resuscitation, also known as CPR. (00:15:30)

Correction: Angeline is trying to cover up the fact she herself killed her uncle, She is just trying to make it sound like she helped him when she probobly did nothing, the fact that she slipped up on a technical term is due to herself and not the television shows or the writers.

Correction: Randy has also been shown many times to be incredibly oblivious of his surroundings. At most its still just a character choice, not a mistake.

Mr. Monk and the End - Part I - S8-E15

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the season 8 episode "Mr. Monk and the End Pt. 1" the scene shows Monk and Trudy prior to the car bombing, together. Monk notices a new present under the tree. He mentions the present to her. However, in the season 4 episode, "Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa", he tells Natalie that he found the gift after Trudy died. Considering Monk's extraordinary gift for memory it seems unlikely that he would have forgotten how he discovered the gift.

Winthrop J. Quiggy

Correction: Considering the trauma he went through that afternoon, it's perfectly understandable he would have forgotten. Add to that the fact that Trudy alters his gifts (He was never able to directly solve her murder), and his memory lapse can be totally explained.

Mr. Monk Goes to Jail - S2-E16

Factual error: Death row prisoners cannot donate organs. No doctor participates in an execution and after the lethal injection the medical examiner must wait at least fifteen minutes to test for cardiac activity before pronouncing the prisoner dead. This is enough time for hypoxia to render the heart, lungs and kidneys useless for transplant. Apart from this, organs intended for transplant must be removed within minutes of the death of the donor. Prisoners are not executed in operating theatres.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

Show generally

Question: If Monk is afraid of germs, then why does he keep touching things that could possibly have germs on them like parking meters or books?

Answer: Notice also that in the opening credits scene when he is touching parking meters her also wipes his hand on his clothes each time he does it.

Answer: That's the thing about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not something rational. He just has to touch things like that. It's not something he can rationally think through. However, since part of his disorder includes an obsession with cleanliness, he also has an assistant walk around handing him wipes periodically. It's like when he gets a cold and uses both a humidifier (because that's what you use when you're congested) and a dehumidifier (to counteract the effects of the humidifier). He may spout rationalizations after he does something, but his compulsions exist outside of any rational thought whatever.
