Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend - S6-E4

Corrected entry: The SFPD is shown as having jurisdiction on a homicide that was committed in Marin County. They would actually never have jurisdiction over the case at all - in committing the crime, Linda Fusco would have only passed through parts of Marin and Alameda Counties. This means that although Monk and Natalie could still be sent to the crime scene on Linda's behalf (since Monk is only a private detective), the Marin County Sheriff's Department would be in charge of the case.

Correction: The SFPD is NOT shown to have jurisdiction over this case. Stottlemeyer says he knows some guys up there and they'll work this together. The guys in Marin county do it as a favour for him. He DOES send Monk on Linda's behalf. And Marin County ARE in charge of the case. Stottlemeyer is kept in the loop as a favour.

Correction: It wasn't really stupidity on her count. She knew her former partner was showing the house to some potential buyers and would have been unaware the woman was a cosmetic salesperson. Additionally the odds the woman would even be able to identify that type of lipstick in such a quick and frightening situation was a million to one so it wasn't likely a major factor when she plotted the murder. Even if it was never pointed out, Monk connected a number of other factors to her. The former partner was leaving their firm, she had a gun similar to one the shooter used and the witness said the figure of the shooter was a woman. The lipstick was just a small factor in the entire case.

Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan - S6-E1

Corrected entry: Monk is confronted with a case where Marci's dog, which died 3 days earlier, is suspected of mauling her neighbor. Marci therefore is suspected of killing her dog after the fact to save herself from prosecution. Any veterinarian could easily determine whether a dog died today or 3 days earlier by its stage of decomposition.

Prince Eitel Joe

Correction: While true, Marci hadn't been arrested or charged at that point. The police were still investigating the case as seen by the Captain with the file at dinner. It was only a theory at that point that she had her dog euthanised after the death.

Lummie

Of course but my point is that it did not need Monk to prove her innocence as portrayed and it is highly unlikely that Monk would - according to his disliking of Marci and his genius - would not have pointed to that simple solution.

Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan - S6-E1

Corrected entry: In the scene where Randy hits Ringel with the timber, it was originally the same length as all the others. Then at the moment Randy strikes, he hits the timber with a flat palm. In real life, it would just return into its stack without touching Ringel at all.

Correction: No, just as in the game he played with the kid he was looking for one piece of timber that was loose enough to slide through the stack and hit Ringel just as it did.

Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa - S6-E10

Corrected entry: Why is everyone talking about the gun piece as if it's evidence, even the police do. 1st they don't know who called in the tip. 2nd the reporter touched it with her bare hands and kept it for over 24 hours before turning it over to the police, and 3rd the chain of evidence is completely messed up. It would never be considered evidence by police.

brianjr0412

Correction: It may not be admissible in court, but it can still be used in the investigation in order to determine who is guilty. Subsequently, additional evidence can be gathered.

Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend - S6-E4

Corrected entry: When Mr. Monk is doing his summation, he mentions the moving truck being towed. However, he would have no way of knowing about this because he wasn't there when it happened, and he couldn't have heard about it from Stottlemeyer because he wouldn't talk to him about the murder.

gadget593

Correction: The moving truck was impounded outside the police station. Additionally, Monk found a rental form for a moving truck in Linda's house. He probably saw the impounded moving truck, then saw the rental form. After leaving the house, he and Natalie likely went over the records to determine where the impounded moving truck had come from, and that's how they learned it was towed from in front of Linda's house.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Corrected entry: When Mr. Monk and Natalie escape from the Sheriff at the car wash in Sparks, Nevada, they end up taking the Sheriff's car. They are first seen after this with this car as they are checking the Sheriff's briefcase on the side of the road. Then, the very next scene is with Natalie and the man behind bars at San Quentin (just north of San Francisco and at least a 2 to 3 hour drive from Sparks, Nevada). Then they are seen with Natalie's car at the parade in Riverton, CA (a town between San Francisco and San Quentin). The only way this could have happened is if they drove all the way back to Sparks, Nevada and then changed cars and returned to Riverton, California (at least 5 to 6 hours driving). Since the parade was happening that day, there would not have been enough time to do all of this driving and get to the parade on time.

Correction: They only took Rollins' car to escape and so he couldn't follow them. They had plenty of time to get Natalie's car once they were safe. Mr. Monk was already lying low while Natalie went to San Quentin, and Natalie got a camera put in her purse. So they did several things prior to Natalie going to the jail.

Correction: She even goes the "extra mile" and commits the murder in another county making sure it is outside our Stottlemeyer's and i.e. Monk's jurisdiction.

Yes but knowing Monk she should never had tried to seduce him and she made the captain suspicious by claiming Monk tried to blackmail her for sex.

Correction: Characters doing stupid things isn't what qualifies as a stupidity. Why would anyone kill anyone knowing there's a chance they could get caught? Linda's personal motives for killing outweigh the fear of being caught.

Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure - S6-E6

Corrected entry: When Monk is in the captain's office watching the bank surveillance camera, it shows the security guard kill the robber with one shot. The captain even says he got off one round. Yet when Monk is summing up the case, the security guard kills the robber wth two shots.

Correction: This is Monk summing up the case: he was not there. So this is a character mistakes. He was just simply wrong about the number of shots fired.

Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees - S6-E5

Corrected entry: During the scene where the police are investigating the crime scene, Monk walks around without any protective footwear. Everyone in the room is wearing them, presumably to avoid contaminating any evidence. Monk regardless of his problems, would not likely be allowed to enter the scene without them. It could even be argued Monk would prefer to wear something like this. Additionally, it's not as if no one noticed. The husband even asks about whether he wiped his feet before coming in and Monk shows his shoes to him. The captain is even watching and comments about his shoes being extremely clean.

Lummie

Correction: Monk has gotten away with a lot of things that are not by the book. He once was allowed inside a jail without being searched by the guards, Monk is a talented detective and he is allowed a lot of slack.

Correction: The point of that scene was everyone's feet needed to be clean because of the rug so they put on footwear at the request of the homeowner for when they walked on the rug. That is why Disher took off his protective footwear when he went upstairs. All he cared about was the rug.

Mr. Monk Is on the Run (2) - S6-E16

Corrected entry: When Mr. Monk is at the hotel, a teenage girl comes in to change the towels with the puppy Eureka. At the hotel, Eureka is referred to as a "she" by both the teenage girl and Mr. Monk. However, at the end, when Mr. Monk "solves the case" of how the bomb will be set off, he talks about puppy Eureka again. This time, however, Mr. Monk says something to the effect that "he" (referring to Eureka) was wearing a special dog collar instead of saying that "she" was wearing a special dog collar. Not an error that the detail-obsessed Monk would make.

Correction: Monk has an eidetic memory giving him complete recall of everything he sees and hears which would include the dogs correct gender as female and not male.

Correction: We can see that Monks memory is sometimes not perfect, an example would be when he can't remember the exact order of his fears without his list. Monk accidently saying "he" instead of "she" is very likely considering it was the heat of the moment and that he is human.

Mr. Monk Goes to Jail - S2-E16

Factual error: When Monk visits the prison for the first time, he is searched, passed, and has a mini-panic attack because people have touched him. Sharona steps forward to comfort him, and she puts her arms around him. This is a very serious breach of procedure and it is not possible for the guards to miss it, because Sharona has not been searched. It's a common technique for trying to pass contraband called 'a touch through' - a person with an item to be smuggled into the prison (drugs, usually), passes them on to a person who has been searched and is therefore 'clean'. Monk would be taken back to the guard's station to be searched again. He would not be allowed leniency because the guards happen to know or to like him - visitor ingress and egress is always done under CCTV and the guard would know he was being watched - quite possibly by someone who doesn't know who Monk and Sharona are.

Suggested correction: Sharona was searched first by the female guard.

In fact Sharona breaks away from the female guard to go to Monk. She has NOT been searched.

The correction is correct. The female guard already finished patting Sharona down before the male guard even had a chance to start his pat down of Monk.

Bishop73

Yeah, the correction is correct. I went back six times through that clip: Sharona and Monk both get searched, and then Sharona touches Monk.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

More trivia for Monk

Answer: Stottlemeyer was already upset after the phone call. He was trying to get "Kevin" (who would have to be a judge, but no further character information is given) to issue a restraining order with no evidence of needing one, except that Adrian Monk said she needs one. Kevin said he would need to "sleep on it." So it's clear they've been trying to provide protection and unable to get the results they need, which seems to be based on no one trusting Monk the way Stottlemeyer does. He's just angry that they failed to protect Linda despite all their work. Although it does feel like a scene was cut, or altered, from the show that shows the futile attempts to protect Linda which built up to his outrage.

Bishop73

Answer: While walking upstairs in the victims house randy starts messing with his out of place tennis shoes. When he gets upstairs to monks he has on other shoes. Could have to do with the expensive rug.
