Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Factual error: On the chessboard, both kings are in check, which is an impossible position in chess. (00:15:40)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Revealing mistake: While Linda is lying dead on her bed, you can see that she is breathing, in two cut scenes, especially at the moment when Monk says "I don't know."
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Visible crew/equipment: After Kloster catches Monk breaking into his house, the boom rigging's shadow can be seen moving on the wood-panelled wall in the background. (00:31:15)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Continuity mistake: When Kloster hands Natalie the cup of lemonade, the cup is about two-thirds full. In the shots from the right side of the car, the level is about the same, but in the shots from the left side of the car, it's almost full. (00:22:30 - 00:23:30)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Continuity mistake: When Monk is telling Captain Stottlemeyer about Trudy's death, he says that by the time he got there, she wasn't even able to speak, that she held his hand and died. However, in "Mr. Monk Meets Dale the Whale," we learn that Trudy's last words were "Bread and butter," and that she said them to Adrian right before she died.
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Plot hole: Kloster's plan of switching the headstones wouldn't have worked because cemeteries keep records of who's buried in which plot. Before exhuming the body, the records would have been checked and someone would have noticed that the name on the headstone and the name in the records didn't match. (He might have broken into the office and changed the records, but it's never brought up, so he likely didn't.)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Continuity mistake: As soon as Monk finishes his summation to Patrick Kloster during the funeral parlor scene, he tells Natalie to call Stottlemeyer, and she walks away to get some privacy. Natalie is still in the background, a few feet away, when the two elderly mourners come in and Monk mistakes the woman in the coffin for the murder victim. Natalie is still visible behind the mourners for the first few shots, but then disappears, and suddenly is standing right beside Monk. (00:19:00 - 00:21:00)
Mr. Monk and the Genius - S7-E2
Character mistake: At the beginning when Monk is writing Natalie's check, we see a shot of it, but the I in "nine" isn't dotted. As meticulous as he is, Monk would never leave an I undotted (we've even seen him dot someone else's i) especially since it would bother him.
Answer: The two men are trying to work out a secret deal between them without involving the union, which means the workers' interests aren't being represented and defeats the whole purpose of a union. The mayor would lose labor's support and Cusack's union troubles would just be starting.
