Evidence of Things Not Seen - S4-E20

New this week Continuity mistake: Will Bailey is wearing a military uniform for the only time in the show (as it is revealed he is a reservist Lieutenant in the USAF). On his uniform shirt there are three medal ribbons-bars. Those ribbon-bars (worn in the correct order from left to right) are as follows: 1. The Air Force Organisational Excellence Award Ribbon 2. The National Defence Service Medal Ribbon 3. The Air Force Training Ribbon. After the shooting incident outside the Press Briefing Room (where gunshots hit one of the windows), Lt. Will Bailey can be seen wearing his three ribbon-bars (incorrect) in the reverse order. Then following on in the two subsequent scenes Will's medal ribbons-bars are back in the correct order. Season 5 generally

Continuity mistake: When the plan to kill Qumari defense minister is being contemplated, several times in the last episodes of Season 3, and at least once in season 4, he 's referred to the Sultan's brother. In season 5, he is referred to as both his cousin and his brother.

Election Day (Part 1) - S7-E16

Continuity mistake: When Bruno and Bob are poring over exit polls, they mention that Santos seems to be leading in North Dakota, and comment that it is a state that hasn't gone Democratic in forty years. While that is true in the real world, in the fictional West Wing world, it is stated in Season 4 that Bartlet won the Dakotas in his landslide reelection.

Manchester: Part I - S3-E2

Continuity mistake: Pres. Bartlet is at his farm in New Hampshire, talking to Leo. In one shot he has an arm on the rail fence and the other hand on his hip. The next shot shows him with both arms on the rail fence even though he had no time to shift position. (00:41:25)

Manchester: Part II - S3-E3

Continuity mistake: Sam and Doug are talking about the President's speech and Doug is holding his notepad, which he shifts to his right hand and starts to put to his side - but the next shot shows it back in his left hand. (00:14:00)

Arctic Radar - S4-E10

Continuity mistake: Josh is wishing Donna a Happy Thanksgiving - he is eating something out of his hand and has a blue book tucked under his arm, which flips from front to back from one shot to the next. When he starts talking to the Trekkie, it flips back again.

Mandatory Minimums - S1-E20

Continuity mistake: When Toby is walking back to his office from the press room with his ex-wife, the ex-wife's tag and chain keeps changing through the entire sequence. Sometimes it's over her jacket and the tag's just hanging or it's under the jacket and the tag is sitting just inside her jacket.

The Mommy Problem - S7-E2

Continuity mistake: Season 7, episode 2, "The Mommy Problem." At the end of the episode, when Matt Santos is approaching his fighter jet, the number "15" is on the left part of the jet's nose. Later, when the jet is taxiing towards take-off, the number changes to "01".

Inauguration: Over There - S4-E15

Continuity mistake: Bartlett is in the executive office in the residence watching four TVs at once. He hears a line in the black and white movie, a second later he rewinds it to hear the line again - he rewinds way too much and for too long, but once he stops the tape, it plays the line he wanted to hear again right away. He went too far back (for visual effect) than what in reality it would have taken.

The Portland Trip - S2-E7

Continuity mistake: As Margaret enters Leo's office, the bottom corner of her ID tag is tucked into the sweater's button area. It remains this way when she stops walking. The camera reverses angle for a moment, yet we can still see she isn't moving. But the angle changes back and suddenly the ID hangs freely, dead center, over the buttons. Moments later, as she turns to leave, it's again tucked in. (00:12:10)

Ways and Means - S3-E4

Continuity mistake: When Doug, Toby, and Sam are talking to the President about how to handle the attempted repeal of the estate tax, they mention several times that it will be the President's first veto, and that it is something that he has never done before. However, in episode four of season two, "In this White House", in the scene where Sam is debating Ainsley Hayes on Capital Beat, the moderator asks why the President's education bill is different from the Republican proposed bill "which the President vetoed." So, the veto of the estate tax repeal was not the president's first.

Red Haven's on Fire - S4-E17

Continuity mistake: Toby, Sam, and Amy are sitting at a table talking - Amy's eyeglasses are on the table in front of her - when Toby asks Charlie what's on the TV, the shot shows her glasses have rotated 180 degrees and her arms have noticeably changed position.

Angel Maintenance - S4-E19

Continuity mistake: Toby and Leo are in Leo's office talking about the friendly fire incident - Leo's glasses are sitting on his desk in front of him. He then picks them up and moves them to the far left. A couple of shots later, he picks them up from the right and puts them on.

Process Stories - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: While Sam and Donna are listening to a TV report that Sam may be heading for Congress, the woman behind him has a phone receiver to her ear, with both hands on the phone. The shot changes and suddenly her right arm is down by her side, but in the next shot it is back in the first position.

Process Stories - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: While Amy is talking to Toby, the piece of shrimp in her hand gets larger and the level of champagne in her glass does down, even though she never drinks from it.

Continuity mistake: Bartlet agrees to have a photo op with a goat and says "let's do it right now" - as C.J. turns to her assistant, we can see the Pres is already half way down the hall, even though this would be impossible in real time.

Mistakes

In Season 1, Episodes 5&6, it's mentioned several times that Zoey is already 19 a few weeks before she starts college. Yet in this episode, Charlie points out to Leo and the President later tells Oliver Babbish that Zoey was 17 when she was filling out her enrollment forms for college, therefore a parent had to sign them. These are enrollment forms, not application forms - it's extremely unlikely that they were filled out over a year before she started school.
