Samantha for the Defense - S3-E14

Factual error: Benjamin Franklin is portrayed as a gentleman in this episode and the previous My Friend Ben episode. In this episode he dates Aunt Clara at the end. In reality, Benjamin Franklin was a cad, a womanizer and a playboy. He was a marvellous man - a genius - but treated women terribly refusing to marry his common law wife, abandoning her for years while he played with other women in Europe... and treated his daughter like a second class citizen.

Samantha: Darling, I've been trying for weeks to give this house a thorough cleaning. These carpets are filthy.
Darrin Stephens: How can you worry about dirt on the rugs when we're about to see the surface of the moon?
Samantha: The moon could use a vacuuming too. All that dust... yych.

Question: In one episode (not sure which one but it was in the Dick York era), Darrin was arguing with Samantha and said something like "Confiding in a woman is like broadcasting by Telstar." What exactly does that mean and what was Telstar?

Answer: Telstar was an early communications satellite system. Darrin, in a particularly sexist manner reflective of this era, is saying that telling a secret to a woman means it is guaranteed to be "broadcasted" to multiple people.
