Blood Drops - S1-E7

Question: When the CSI crew are looking around the house after the murders, there are a couple of circles drawn in blood near a couple of the bodies, eg next to the father's body on the wall. I've watched the episode a few times now and still don't understand why she drew the circles. Can anyone help me out?

Answer: It wasn't the daughter that drew the circles, it was her boyfriend (he murdered the family). He drew the strange symbols in blood to throw off his scent by making people think it was a cult killing.

Season 1 generally

Question: I'm an Aussie who just bought the box-set of CSI Series 1 DVD's and I was wondering why all the episodes have a different opening song? It definitely isn't 'Who Are You?' but the song's credit is still at the end of every episode. Was there some copyright issues or something?

Answer: Pete Townshend did a "remix" of the song. If you listen to it all the way through (it's about 6-7 mins long) You will find that it is the same piece of music.

Show generally

Factual error: In a number of episodes people are shown eating and drinking in the laboratories. For instance, in "Miss Willows' Regrets" Nick and Greg are seen eating fried chicken in the lab, and in "Overload" Sara eats a sandwich while watching Grissom experiment with her deli pickle. There are other examples. No reputable laboratory (which this is supposed to be) would allow its staff to eat or drink while in the lab. It is basic scientific protocol to prevent contamination of samples or the person picking up toxins on their food.
