Der Tag - S4-E17

Continuity mistake: Along with Radar holding an anachronistic comic book (the Avengers), the exact issue changes between wide and close shots. One has the older Avengers logo used in the '60s and very early '70s, while the second issue Radar is holding has the newer Avengers logo that just gained currency as the episode was being filmed. The Kids - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: When Hawkeye is examining the orphan who is wiggling his tongue, there are two camera angles: one of Hawkeye from the front and one of the orphan over Hawkeye's shoulder. In the first shot, the tongue depresser that Hawkeye is holding is horizontal, in the other it is vertical. This flips back and forth a couple of times. (00:06:30)

Welcome to Korea - S4-E1

Welcome to Korea - S4-E1

Continuity mistake: When Radar and Hawkeye leave the 4077, the jeep they're in has its windshield in the fold-down position over the hood, but in the two shots from behind Hawkeye and Radar when they see the checkpoint up ahead and Hawkeye speeds up, the windshield has vanished and there's a star on the hood.

Welcome to Korea - S4-E1

Continuity mistake: After speeding past the checkpoint Hawkeye's stopped by the MPs, and when the lieutenant takes hold of one of Hawkeye's dog tags he's holding the one on the extender chain, but next shot he's holding the other dog tag, with the extender chain and second dog tag hanging down.

The Bus - S4-E6

Continuity mistake: The "KILROY" Hawkeye writes on the window as BJ looks out was in the center with his fingertip. Later, as Hawkeye looks out, the "KILROY" is now closer to the frame, and the lettering is different, a small capital A in front of it, and lines above and below it.

Movie Nut

Welcome to Korea - S4-E1

Continuity mistake: In the assembly called by Major Burns at the beginning of the show, Klinger is in the front rank far left (except when the continuity error has him centre rear), but after the appearance of Hawkeye in the rickshaw Klinger isn't on parade at all.

Dear Mildred - S4-E7

Continuity mistake: When Colonel Potter's in his office finishing up his letter to Mildred, right before Margaret, Frank, and the others walk in, the things on his desk change their positions between shots - such as the paper tray moving from Potter's left to the right side of his desk.

Super Grover

Deluge - S4-E23

Continuity mistake: When Klinger is scrubbing the sink, it's empty, or almost so. Klinger turns on the water. When BJ brings in the wounded soldier, the sink suddenly is more than half full - and the water is off again.

Doc

The More I See You - S4-E22

Continuity mistake: When Carly is talking about Hawkeye being a "mortician's delight", she is gesturing with her right hand, and it's about waist height at the end of the motion. When the camera goes to a wide shot, her hand is up by her chin, about eight inches from her face.

Death Takes a Holiday - S9-E5

Visible crew/equipment: After Charles confronts Choi Sung Ho about the candy, Ho explains that he sold it on the black market to buy real food, and when Ho reenters the mess tent through the side door, we can see that outside there's a director's chair, which actors also use, with something printed on its back.

Sometimes You Hear the Bullet - S1-E17

Henry Blake: All I know is what they taught me at command school. There are certain rules about a war, and rule number one is that young men die. And rule number two is that doctors can't change rule number one.

Abyssinia, Henry - S3-E24

Trivia: There were no American planes shot down over the Sea of Japan during the Korean conflict. It is rumoured that producer/director Larry Gelbart knew that, but wrote Henry Blake's death scene as he was very unhappy with the way Mclean Stevenson had left the show, and was determined to make it clear that there was no way he would be coming back.

Dear Dad - S1-E12

Question: A number of times it is mentioned that the outfit is unarmed, yet several times, Frank has a rifle, or a pistol, and once Klinger had a grenade, and the guards and Klinger, while on sentry duty, has a rifle. Was this standard, or is this a mistake?

Answer: Even an Army field hospital would have SOME weapons for self-defense if the enemy attacked. What's meant is that it's not a combat outfit, and therefore wouldn't have enough weapons to actually attack anyone. (It's also mentioned a few times that the Officer of the Watch is supposed to carry a pistol at all times, but Hawkeye refuses to do it when he's in charge and Colonels Blake and Potter don't enforce the rule).

Captain Defenestrator

Answer: The Geneva Convention allows even doctors to carry a sidearm to be used in their self defense or the defense of their patients, however it is rare to do so.

stiiggy

Answer: As an old medical unit staffer, my experience is that med units have combat units assigned to defend them. Usually it was marines.

Answer: My old doctor (now deceased) served in Korea during the War. He was required to carry a sidearm anytime he was not in the hospital.
