Other mistake: During the scene when the soldier who shot Sergeant Grant on the head was captured, Captain Speirs with a drawn M1911 pistol (hammer not cocked) is seen entering the building. In the interrogation room, it appeared that Capt. Speirs pulled back the slide of his pistol (this is after hitting the face of the captured soldier with his pistol). Speirs then aimed to shoot the captured soldier's head. Sergeant Perconte slowly stepped back (fearing he might be in the line of fire). Clearly it can be seen that the hammer is still not cocked. Then a sound of what appears to be a clicking (or unclicking) of the pistol's safety by Speirs.
Band of Brothers (2001)
1 other mistake in Points - chronological order
Starring: Ron Livingston, Damian Lewis, Scott Grimes, Matthew Leitch, Shane Taylor
Factual error: In this episode we see Blithe get shot in the neck and are told that he died in 1948. In reality he was shot in the shoulder and survived. He later served in Korea and was promoted to master sergeant as well as receiving the paratrooper of the year award. Blithe died in 1967 while on active duty in Germany.
2nd Lt. Thomas Peacock: Holy shit.
SSgt. Floyd 'Tab' Talbert: It's a whole other company.
Sgt. Martin: No shit.
Trivia: Band of Brothers was HBO's most expensive project ever.
Crossroads - S1-E5
Question: How exactly do the M1 Garands work? I noticed that after the clip is emptied a metal type plate comes out the top of the rifle, what is that?

Answer: That actually is the clip. It is loaded into the top of the rifle, and is ejected with the last round. See http://www.wwiitech.net/main/usa/weapons/m1/.
