Continuity mistake: Ross comes into Chandler and Joey's apartment to ask the guys and Rachel what they are doing in four weeks, the Magna Doodle behind him is blank. We cut to Joey checking his diary, cut back to Ross, and it now has "get out" written on it. [Fullscreen version]. (00:10:35)
Continuity mistake: When Phoebe tells Ross that she wants to hear his "sound", she has her guitar in her lap. The shot changes, she says "Play that funky music white boy," and her guitar is missing. In the next shot, Ross runs out and her guitar is back on her lap again. (00:03:50)ACertainShadeofGreen
Continuity mistake: When Rachel is talking to Joshua near the drinks table at the party, he is holding a blue cup in his left hand and nothing in his right (this is most obvious when she's offering him a cherry). When she begins to choke, he raises his empty right hand to pat her on the back, then when she walks away there is suddenly a bottle in his raised hand. The shot changes, and his hand is again empty and he reaches down to the table and picks up the same bottle. (00:08:30)
Continuity mistake: When Chandler, Joey and Monica tell their story of the jellyfish bite Chandler says sometimes at night he still hears Joey's voice screaming "Do it ! Do it!". Joey says he yells it through the wall at night to freak Chandler out, but no nights have passed. They tell the story the same day the jellyfish bite occurred. Notice Rachel, Ross and Phoebe are wearing the same clothes they had before they left the beach house. (00:16:20)
Continuity mistake: There is a scene in the guys' apartment where the phrase on the Magna Doodle keeps changing. Joey is complaining to Chandler about having to stay awake all night for a sleep study. Rachel and Ross then enter the apartment (at different times) and Ross announces he is getting married to Emily in a month. In some shots during the scene the Magna Doodle reads, "get out!" in other shots it reads, "Poop." (Widescreen).
Continuity mistake: When Rachel is telling Monica and Phoebe about her night out with Joshua the previous evening, Monica is holding a glass of orange juice. To begin with the glass is half full, but then changes to being almost full to the top, and then back to half full. (00:09:00)
Continuity mistake: When the friends are talking about the contest to prove who knows each other better, Monica says to Joey "Are you scared?" and Rachel has her arms crossed. Joey says "No" and in the next shot of Rachel she is crossing them again. (00:05:00)Pam-I-am
Continuity mistake: In the episode with Chandler in a box, when Rachel is showing Ross all the things she had kept from their relationship in a shoe box, her hair is tucked behind her ear in most shots, but when she says "I keep the gifts that matter", it's all loose, then goes back to how it was in the following shot. Also in the shot before that line she's pointing the fossil at Ross, but when it cuts to a front view she's pointing it upwards. (00:16:30)
Continuity mistake: Phoebe and her mother are in her mother's house at the beach. Phoebe has just found out that Phoebe senior is her real mother. Have a look at Phoebe's mother in this episode and the last episode of series 3 (The One at the Beach). Her hair is a lot shorter in series 4 even though no time has passed in the storyline. (00:03:35)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode where they are watching Ross through the window, Phoebe is leaning forward and standing to the left of the pole next to Chandler. When the shot changes to Ross coming through the door, she is suddenly standing up straight and is now behind Joey and Chandler. (00:00:10)
Continuity mistake: In the bar, Kathy is trying to set Chandler up with one of her friends. When the camera is facing Chandler, we see Kathy's hand rubbing Joey's back, but when it cuts to a front shot of Joey and Kathy, her arm is down in front of her. Then without having had enough time to move, her elbow is up on the table and she is holding hands with Joey. (00:16:10)
