Question: I noticed from the previews that this movie looks very different. What is it? Is it a digital camera that has been used? Or no lighting effects used? The movie really has a "behind the scene" feel.
Chosen answer: It was shot with a digital camera. IMDB is a great place to answer questions like this. Go to *Technical Specifications* in the *Other Info* section of the menu on the left hand side of the screen. In an interview in American Cinematographer, Michael Mann said that as far as he was aware, this was one of the first movies to attempt to make a "look" out of digital video rather than trying to make Digital Video look like film. This approach meant the movie could be shot in the low-light scenes of urban desolation Mann wanted - because Digital reacts much better to low light than film. The approximately 20% of the picture that was shot on film was mostly, according to Mann, the portion set in the "Fever" nightclub - because this is the scene with the brightest lighting states, a condition in which Digital Video does not perform as well.

Demolition Man (1993)
Question: Does the book 'Brave New World' upon which 'Demolition Man' is based reference the three seashells in the bathroom or is it just a bit of comic relief in the movie ?
Answer: For a start, the question is seriously flawed: Demolition Man is not based on Brave New world. The only similarity between the two is that that both are set in conformist future societies. There are a few references in the movie to that book (for example, the character name Lenina Huxley is a combination of BNW character Lenina Crowne and the book's author, Aldous Huxley); but to the best of my knowledge, the "three seashells" was not one of them.
Answer: No, there are no 'three seashells' in Brave New World. Thank Ford.

Answer: Since Reverend Lovejoy is both married and referred to as 'Reverend', they must be Protestants. They never name the exact protestant denomination.

The Matrix (1999)
Question: What if they were to destroy the Matrix, then all the humans would be free but the problem is where would billions of human beings go? Zion, the last city, can't hold them all and they can't live in the tunnels or above the earth's crust because there is no food or water there. The whole war doesn't seem to be well thought out and seems like a big plot hole on the Wachowskis part.
Answer: The inhabitants of Zion seem to have little problem with killing off dozens of 'real people' during their constant gunfights inside the Matrix. This suggests that they would be willing to sacrifice the bulk of humanity. Remember, it's supposed to be difficult for adults who spent their entire lives in the Matrix to survive being suddenly removed from it anyway.

Question: Homer killed Selma in "Treehouse of Horror XIV." So why is she still alive in other Season 15 episodes?
Answer: Because Halloween episodes are not considered part of the Simpsons' series continuity (not that the writers care much about series continuity to start with). I'm surprised that you singled out this particular Halloween episode. Remember the nuclear holocaust, aliens enslaving humanity, or Homer's head becoming a donut? None of them had any lasting effect on the Simpsons' universe either.

Question: I read on movietome.com that Uma Thurman played a girl named Daphne in this movie. I have watched over and over and read the end credits and can't find her anywhere. Is she in this movie?
Answer: Wrong movie. She is in Where The Heart Is (1990), not Where The Heart Is (2000).

Question: Chandler tells Monica about how his father has tried to get in touch with him over the years but Chandler's always had an excuse not to see him. He says "it's all very 'Cats in the Cradle'". What does that mean?

Question: One person asked about Rose and Cal's "love life" which was answered with something about it being "active". Surely, Rose should have been pregnant by then if they had slept together quite a few times?
Answer: Condoms have been in use since the 1850's. Assuming Cal and Rose practiced safe sex there's no reason to believe she should have become pregnant.
Answer: The dialogue implies that they had not had sex yet. Cal tells her "There is nothing I would deny you, if you would not deny me." So it sounds like Cal is trying to convince Rose to have sex prior to their marriage. But Rose does not lose her virginity until she and Jack get busy in the car. However, IF they had been engaging in pre-marital sex, condoms were widely available in 1912, as were diaphragms; and there were other methods that, while maybe not as effective as modern methods, were better than nothing: Withdrawal before ejaculation, and intercourse at infertile times in a woman's cycle (see http://www.plannedparenthood.org/library/birthcontrol/020709_bchistory.html). Also, she could have just been lucky.
There are implications that Rose and Cal were intimate, such as when Cal says, "I had hoped you would come to me last night," and "You are my wife my practice if not yet by law."
When Cal says, "if you would not deny me," I think he means her melancholy attitude toward the wedding. He knows that she is not totally enthusiastic.
