Ben-Hur (1959)

Ben-Hur mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Right before the chariot race, when Sheik Ilderim is standing at Judah's right side and tells Judah, "Be careful, don't let him near you," Judah places his hand on the Sheik's forearm as the fanfare starts. Then it cuts to a long shot, with the Sheik now suddenly on Judah's left side, and Judah removing his hand from the Sheik's forearm.

Suggested correction: The sheik actually moves around the chariot to the right side. No continuity error.

You can't assume that the sheik moves. It's not shown and the shots are so quick in succession the sheik didn't have time to move.

ChiChi

Oh, but actually, there is indeed a continuity error, and it occurs between shots. Sheik Ilderim is standing on one side of the chariot, then in the very next shot he is standing on the other side of the chariot. The suggested correction is wrong.

The Quiet Man (1952)

Corrected entry: After it starts raining at the graveyard, John Wayne hands his wife his coat and she puts it on. She doesn't have the coat on when she goes to cuddle with him a split second later.

manthabeat

Correction: Sean only lays the coat over her shoulders. When the lightning/ thunder strikes and she runs into his arms, the coat falls off of her shoulders.

JFK (1991)

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the movie when Kevin Costner is giving his big speech to the jury, the camera shows his wife sitting there with her hair down. Back to him and then back to her but her hair is now pinned up.

Correction: Garrison's closing argument is meant to be taking place over several days. Not only does the wife's hair change, but the suit Garrison's wearing changes several times.

Cold Mountain (2003)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Inman gets in the canoe, he leaves his back pack on the dock and has a look on his face like he wants to go back and get it. When the soldiers start shooting at them, he has it on.

Correction: Inman has the strap for the pouch over his shoulder when he jumps in the boat. It can also be seen across his shoulder in the shot where he looks back at the dock, not as if to go back and get the pouch, but watching for the Home Guard.

City by the Sea (2002)

Corrected entry: In the last scene where Joey is talking to his father and the cops have surrounded a building, Joey approaches a window with one of the glass panes missing. In the next shot, the cops can see Joey from the window but the glass pane is there. Joey later breaks the glass and fires his gun. (01:37:15)

Correction: The glass pane is clearly in the window as Joey approaches it. There's even some haze or dirt on it.

Corrected entry: In the scene where De Niro is putting all of his stuff in the trunk of the old beater he sometimes drives, you can clearly see part of the crew behind his head to the left WAY in the background of the parking garage. (01:53:50)

Correction: The shot is SO quick and brief, you can't tell if it's crew, a car, or a shadow.

Corrected entry: When Jack met Nick and Max at Nick's place, he started discribing his job at Customs. He told them that his work time was from midnight to 8:00 a.m. But while he is talking, the images show him entering at Custom when the day was not dark yet.

Correction: The area is well-lit, but it's definitely at night and dark out when Jack enters the building.

Nurse Betty (2000)

Corrected entry: When Chris Rock takes the photo of Renée Z. out of Morgan Freeman's hand, he rips it up into 3 pieces and drops them on the ground. Morgan Freeman only picks up 2 pieces and puts the photo back together.

Correction: Wesley fumbles with the picture a bit after he tears it down the center, as if to tear it more, but he only manages to rip it in two pieces before he drops it.

Corrected entry: The astronauts should had immediately realized they were back on Earth, at the beginning of the movie, if they had only gazed at the Moon or constellations in the night time sky (even if it was the year 3978). Naturally that observation would have made that a different movie.

Larry Koehn

Correction: A comment is made very early in the movie about the thunder and lightning with no rain and how there is a strange luminescence but no moon, which would make the stars invisible too. The climate and night sky may have been drastically changed by whatever has happened in the years since they have been traveling.

ChiChi

Corrected entry: When John Cusack and Dan Aykroyd are sitting in the coffee shop, John Cusack knocks a plate out of the waitress' hand onto the floor and the waitress bends down to pick it up. John Cusack runs for the door, the camera pans back, and there is no waitress and no mess on the floor.

Melissa

Correction: The waitress is shown ducking and running once Martin stands up. The mess on the floor is blocked by items on another table in the foreground.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: Jaqueline Bisset and Steve McQueen are driving in her yellow Porsche on the busy freeway. A grey saloon and 3 red lorries feature behind in the shot. Bisset and McQueen stop the car and get out for a chat on the side of the road. They then get back in and drive off, with same grey car and 3 red lorries behind them!

Correction: At the start of the scene a blue car is on the off ramp as McQueen and bisset pull off the highway in the yellow Porsche. After the cliff top scene it cuts back to the highway and the same blue car is just leaving the highway with the yellow Porsche 3 cars behind it. They just used an earlier piece of the same shot.

Correction: They are not shown driving away in this scene. There is a brief shot of the car parked on the shoulder, and one red truck can be seen approaching, but it is a highway and there's probably other red trucks traveling there.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: When Cathy follows the running policemen into the Thunderbolt Hotel room, she stops, then looks around a policeman at the dead woman. She makes no big sound or big movements from that point onward. Bullitt is not facing the doorway and is starting to make a phone call to Delgetti. During his conversation, he turns his head and looks up to see his girlfriend in the room. What draws his attention to notice her?

Correction: Bullitt turns slightly and catches sight of Cathy out of the corner of his eye.

Bullitt (1968)

Corrected entry: The driver of the Dodge Charger during the chase scene with Steve McQueen's Mustang is an actual stunt driver (even in close-up). He is obviously killed when the Charger crashes into (behind) the gas station. After Steve McQueen wrecks his Mustang he goes to the police garage to ask for another car and is told there are none left. Then watch closely...the last car is driven out by the stunt driver of the Charger!

Correction: There is a man with large black glasses driving out of the garage, but his face is not seen. It could be anyone.

Ruthless People (1986)

Corrected entry: When Danny DeVito goes to the morgue to see if the body they found matches his wife's (Midler). He goes and sees this body and he says it looks like her, a lot like her. And she looks nothing like Bette Midler.

Correction: He doesn't want his wife back, so by falsely IDing the body, the police stop searching. It doesn't matter if they look alike.

Schindler's List (1993)

Corrected entry: In the scene at Oskar Schindler's birthday party when he kisses the Jewish woman, he is first holding her by her arms, then it switched to his hand are around her face, then right back to her arms where they started.

Correction: Schindler's hands never leave the girl's face.

Schindler's List (1993)

Corrected entry: About fifty minutes in, Liam Neeson is searching for Ben Kingsley on a trainload of trucks. He has gone well past the truck with Kingsley in it, then the latter comes to the 'window'. In the next shot, Neeson is back along the train, right by that window.

Correction: Each boxcar has two windows. Schindler passed the first window, just as Stern comes forward and calls for Schindler. Schindler proceeds forward and Stern moves from the rear window to the forward window and calls for Schindler again where he is then noticed.
