The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: After killing the real Deputy, the impostor Deputy put him in the trunk of his vehicle and left three bloody finger images near the truck's lock. Even a novice criminal would know to wipe off obvious blood from a murder.

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: When formulating his plan to kill the CEO, the Virtuoso posted "lost dog" signs on poles within the area he was going to shoot. When finished, he looked up and across the street to the window from which he was going to shoot. Instead of being "a shadow", the Virtuoso put himself at the crime scene the day before, looking quite suspicious. If/when police looked for surveillance camera footage, the Virtuoso's behavior would be quite obvious. (00:10:23)

Galveston (2018)

Stupidity: After Roy escaped from the factory, he encountered a metal garage-door-type gate that was open at the bottom to the height of his knees. Trying to sneak away and in obvious pain from his injuries, it would have been quicker, quieter, and probably less painful if he crawled through the opening. Instead, Roy pulled downward on the chains, making a lot of noise, and it didn't even get the gate halfway up before he bent over to get out. The gate went up more after he stopped pulling on the chain. (01:15:29)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: The Virtuoso was given very limited information - that he should go to Rosie's at 5:00 PM. While there, he thought "Something's not right" and "Without the Deputy, you [the Virtuoso] could complete the assignment. The outcome would look like a robbery gone wrong." Still unsure, he decides to "give it more time", watches the vehicles leaving Rosie's, rightfully assumes the Loner will go to the motel and follows him. BUT the Sheriff left first, meaning he could have gone back to finish the hit. (00:35:25)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: After suturing the woman's gunshot wound in the barn, the Virtuoso finds a space heater. He sets the space heater on top of a low stand of some kind and then uses an extension cord to plug it in - two things that should NOT be done when using a space heater. Also, there is sound as though the space heater is running, but there is no change in color (coils turning red) that would indicate it is on and heating. (01:12:44 - 01:13:06)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: The Virtuoso drove to the farmhouse and parked behind the stable, but did not entirely conceal his car from the house. After he got there, he selected weapons/guns from the trunk - something he (a "professional") should have already decided and prepared before arriving. (01:05:07)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: The Mother who got engulfed in flames from the car crashing and exploding on impact with the van stood around flailing her arms and swinging her purse (also on fire) instead of doing what "everyone knows" to do: drop and roll. (00:12:19)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: The Mentor told the Virtuoso that the murder of the CEO needed to look like an accident. It was acknowledged that 48 hours to plan the hit wasn't enough time, but it had to be done. The Virtuoso - supposedly an "expert" - decided to shoot the front tire while the CEO was driving past the building, making him "overcorrect" and thereby slam into the building. Even IF this would have killed the CEO, a BULLET HOLE to a front tire would not look like an accident. (00:09:22)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Stupidity: A virtuoso "lives off grid" as much as possible and is a shadow, but the Virtuoso opened his mail - a coded message - while at the independent post office. (00:07:25)

Stupidity: Liv and her five friends went to Willy's to set it on fire, but Liv insisted they first go inside to get the Janitor out. All were aware of the situation and danger related to the mass murderer and the animatronics, but Bobby and Kathy went into another room to "hook up." Kathy recognized the room as the one where the killers committed suicide and later saw movement, but she continued having sex with Bobby until he was attacked and killed. (00:38:48 - 00:42:02)

Stupidity: Royse used a stick in lieu of a walking cane to test what was in front of him before stepping forward. He managed to step onto boulders that were feet apart without tripping or falling, but he got his foot caught between downed tree branches/logs.

Stupidity: Max loaded his backpack with food and supplies he thought/knew he would need searching for his father in the woods. Before he was out of the backyard, his slightly older sister said she was going, too. Max didn't tell her to get her own food, etc. to bring. Surely he would know that he would have to share his food and run out. Also, when the backpack full of supplies fell into the river, instead of at least trying to see if they could retrieve it, Max just immediately dismissed it as "lost."

Stupidity: Although Royce tied a rope around Chinook, he did not secure the rope to himself. A blind man using a dog as a guide through woods should have done everything possible to make sure he did not get separated from the dog (like he did).

KeyZOid

Stupidity: Royce, blinded in Afghanistan, managed to avoid serious injury when the boat finally hit land. Having no real idea where he was, he foolishly decided to get off the boat and try venturing through unknown woods with the dog Chinook as a guide (!) This was simply absurd! Even though rescue missions were delayed that day by the storm, he should have had enough sense to know his chances of being found/rescued (and being safe in the meantime) would be the greatest by staying in the boat.

KeyZOid

Stupidity: Both parents, Dr. Clark and Grace, separately told Lucy that James was a "very sick and dangerous man" and she was to lock all doors and stay inside. When James knocked on the door, Lucy was thrilled to see him and let him come inside the house, totally ignoring her parents' warnings.

The Penthouse (2021)

Stupidity: Peter and Amanda were wealthy enough to buy the 11th floor penthouse for $579,000 but had no security cameras. Also, Det. Martinez never thought to check surveillance cameras outside the Wright's penthouse; surely cameras were around and/or the Detective could have questioned neighbors if anyone saw Charles near the penthouses or with the Wright's dog Humphrey. Peter or the detective could have gone near Charles' boat without a warrant and called Humphrey to see if the dog barked in response.

Don't Tell a Soul (2020)

Stupidity: Matt told Joey they could not check on the guard in the hole because they had committed the "perfect crime" but could get caught if the guard got out. Matt later told his friend Tom "everything" about stealing from Ms. Dillard. Bragging about what they did is certainly no way to help ensure they would not get caught.

Don't Tell a Soul (2020)

Stupidity: Shortly after leaving the man in the hole, Joey met Matt at the top of the embankment and told him he lost the gas mask. Instead of backtracking (not very far) and trying to find the mask (fingerprints on it could be evidence against him), Matt tells Joey that he owes him "30 bucks."

Don't Tell a Soul (2020)

Stupidity: After stealing the candy tin full of money, Joey gave it to Matt. Standing in front of the house, Matt opened the tin to see all the cash ($12,600). Joey asked him if anyone saw him, and Matt replied, "No. Let's go before they do." Instead of "hiding" the candy tin in his backpack, Matt carried the tin out in the open - and soon ran into a man wearing a security guard uniform.

Synchronic (2019)

Stupidity: Steve wanted all the packets of "Synchronic" destroyed. He bought all that was available in the local store, but he merely placed the intact packets into his small garbage can (instead of flushing or destroying the contents).
