Crush Crush

Character mistake: The second screen of Nutaku's "ending" begins with quotation marks that never close - and they were never supposed to be there in the first place, her line begins only a few words later.

Ghostbusters (1984)

Character mistake: Peter tells Egon over the phone that he gave Dana "300 cc of Thorazine." Besides the funny implications the movie ignores on how and why he was in possession of it, Venkman says "cc", but the drug is dosed in mg, so at the very least Venkman misspoke (that'd be 1/3 liters!). The line is not in the shooting script and other sources like the novelization just say that Dana had some valium lying around. (01:02:30)

Character mistake: On the way to Jerusalem, Poirot says that "that man, Weizmann, put it rather well the other day, before Lord Peel's commission", and gives a famous quote about the world being divided in 'two places' for the Jews (those where they are not allowed to live, and those they cannot enter). The movie takes place in May 1937, and Chaim Weizmann's quote is from November of the previous year. 6 months are hardly "the other day."

Night Cascades

Character mistake: In the inspection at the park, Diane is trying to figure out what the people involved in the first fire could have done. She says "Were they frightened? Desperate to get away? Or EXHILERATED by the blaze?", misspelling the world "exhilarated."

Halfway Home

Character mistake: When the protagonist gets in their room at the beginning of the game, the 'janitor' introduces them and leaves. The protagonist then monologues saying that "It's more COMFORABLE for me to be alone", with an obvious typo.

House of Gucci (2021)

Character mistake: Paolo whines at the phone about his father going to jail when he's 70 years old. Like Al Pacino who plays him, Aldo Gucci was 80 at the time of the arrest. (01:21:35)

House of Gucci (2021)

Character mistake: Aldo tells Rodolfo to reconcile with his son, saying "Sunday is my birthday." Aldo Gucci was born on May 26th, which was not a Sunday in 1980 nor 1981, which is when the scene would take place. (00:31:30)

Castle (2009)

Flowers for Your Grave - S1-E1

Character mistake: At the end of the episode, Castle finds his inspiration again and there's a word processor page fading in/out with text being written. Funnily enough, whoever typed in overlooked something, since there's a sentence that says "Begfore she felt safe." (00:41:30)

Character mistake: Dr. Bessner tells Linnet that the Eastern statue she'll see at Abu Simbel is 'the vocal statue', which emits a sound at sunset. The statues the doctor mentions are the Colossi of Memnon, over 500 kms north of Abu Simbel, so the movie here mixes up two very different monuments. (00:49:30)

Scream 3 (2000)

Character mistake: Stone catches Gale snooping around and Dewey takes her aside to the kitchen to have a chat. She updates him about the latest news in the investigation, "Sarah's call didn't come from his cell phone." However Courteney Cox mangles the name and calls her "Sterra." Noticed by Wes Craven in the DVD commentary track; he even identifies the scene with "Oh, this is the scene when she calls Sarah 'Sterra' "and the editor references the similar "Roman=Ronan" mistake that happened earlier. Scream 2 (1997)

Character mistake: Dewey says that it does not make sense that the killer, who at this point is characterized as a copycat of the Woodsboro team, attacked Sidney. Actually that's exactly what happened in the first Scream; after Casey and her boyfriend, Ghostface tried to kill Sidney. Dewey should know since he was the first responder on that call doing a puppet show at the door, and it's not only amazing that he wouldn't remember, but also that nobody corrects him and that they haven't run a timetable of the previous events at all. Of course in the end the pattern does not matter just as Dewey later says, but up to that point, the killer was following it to a T, so they are reaching the conclusion too early and against the evidence. Expeditions: Rome

Character mistake: During the riddle event in the Olympian sidequest, Diodoros asks "Please forgive him." One of the possible answers mentions Pigres "clearly lost to your champion." It's a typo, since Pigres lost to "our" champion, aka Bestia, our companion.

Scream (1996)

Character mistake: When they are surprised by Gale, Billy angrily says to Stu "Man, I thought she was dead." To which Stu replies "She looked dead, man. Still does." However, Stu didn't have time to check on Gale, since she crashed the vehicle moments before Sidney is attacked by a Ghostface that had to be Stu himself (since he does the quick clothes switch coming from the car).

Scream 2 (1997)

Character mistake: Mrs. Loomis is crazy and does not really think things through (she finishes her speech saying "who gives a f..." and that she's untraceable anyway), however it's worth noting that when she tells Sidney the official version that the police will believe, she is wrong; she says it wiping the gun clean from prints and throwing it away, which means that the police would find the supposed murder weapon with neither Mickey nor Sidney's prints on it, and neither wears gloves. Moreover, she plans to disappear and she was prominently featured in the media coverage, so people would certainly investigate her at least as victim.

Suggested correction: I don't think that a psychopathic character acting irrationally and jumping to unlikely conclusions really constitutes a character mistake. But I do think it's also worth pointing out though that cops usually don't rely on fingerprints on guns anyway - the likelihood of finding a usable print on a gun is minuscule (only about 5%), and there's going to be traces of things like skin-oil and whatnot on it from being handled, so the cops will likely just assume it was used by someone in the room - the most likely candidate being either Sidney and Mickey. Mrs. Loomis is also using a false identity and has got surgery to change her face before, so she could likely disappear pretty easily. Real-life killers get away with disappearing all the time.

I am no expert in true crimes and forensics, I am just challenging the movie logic here (which is why I talk about the behaviour of a crazy character who is running exposition). What I get from your objection though is that the cops wouldn't be able to tell that she wiped the gun clean from prints and so that wouldn't stick out as suspicious? She didn't really change her face, since Sidney recognizes her when she gets a good look at her. Rewatching the scene anyway it's very evident that she does not really care because she simply puts her faith in the cops not being able to track the fictitious Debbie Salt, so I would be happy with a correction here, I was interested in pointing out that the whole first part about wiping the prints and throwing the gun aside does not seem to logically follow up, I take note that according to your objection using 'real science' and forensics practice it might not even be that.

Character mistake: When the uber-rival Cashious Villionaire explains the powers of the Lapis, he says "It's fantastic powers are exceptional when it comes to controlling one's mind...but it's powers cannot be used to fix one's heart." Twice in the same sentence the same grammar error.

Character mistake: When David Frost interviews the fictional actor Bryan Martin, he adds a last question to the interview saying "before you go" and acts as if the guest is not gonna stay (as it often happens in talk shows, when some guests, especially the more famous ones, leave after their bit is over). However Martin is staying and in fact there is a special mystery guest a bit later that makes sense only if he is in fact staying. (00:02:00)
