The X-Files (1993)

Squeeze - S1-E3

Corrected entry: At The End of the episode Scully handcuffs Tooms to the bathtub and Mulder says "he's not gonna get his quota this year" and Tooms seemingly accepts his capture. Given that he can stretch his whole body (and as specifically shown in the episode, his hands/fingers) couldn't Tooms have escaped from the handcuffs?

Jack Vaughan

Correction: He probably could have, but it's not something he can do instantly, and he also has a gun drawn on him. He likely decided it would be better to bide his time and escape later, which he eventually does.

Phaneron

I doubt that's what the filmmakers intended you to think though. It's a slip in the writing.

Jack Vaughan

And how do you know what the filmmakers were thinking? They obviously intended to use the character again since he appears later in the season. If you could slip out of handcuffs, but a federal agent was pointing their gun at you, would you risk death or try to escape at a later time?

Phaneron

Yeh, I'm not gonna pretend that this mistake was solid. Fair enough.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: During the bank robbery, the camera operator's shadow is visible on the vault door as he/she passes it. (00:04:10)

Jack Vaughan

Correction: This is too vague. There is more than one instance where the vault door is seen during the heist.

A time code is given so one can confirm or dispute the mistake.

Star Wars (1977)

Corrected entry: In addition to the stormtrooper famously banging his head on the door, if you look behind the stormtroopers you can also see a crewmember quickly moving out of shot just as the door moves up.

Jack Vaughan

Correction: There is someone moving in the background, but after slowing and even pausing the video I can't tell who it is. It almost looks like a 3PO style droid walking past. Remember, the Death Star is a busy place.

Spider-Man (2002)

Corrected entry: Towards the end, during the climatic fight between Spider-Man and Green Goblin, there is a part where Goblin is against a wall (this is just before he spears himself with his own hoverboard) and the floor at his feet is fairly intact, but when Peter jumps down the floor is a lot less intact (this is shown from a sideview displaying both Goblin and Spider-Man).

Jack Vaughan

Correction: The building is old and has fallen apart over some time and the fight. some of the floor is intact while there are sections that are missing. you could see missing pieces whe the fight first arrives in the building.

Mad Max 2 (1981)

Correction: They aren't empty, the just don't have very much gas in them. They don't trust Max so they give him just enough gas to get the rig back to them. If they'd given him full tanks he might try to simply take the rig and leave. Also, it would be nearly impossible for him across the desert carrying 2 full cans of gas.

Then why not just give Max one can? They were obviously empty.

Because they contained two different types of fuel: high-octane for the gyrocopter, and diesel for the rig.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Corrected entry: When the SWAT truck is pushed into the river, you can see the shadow of the helicopter that's filming the shot on the wall just above where the truck fell into the river.

Jack Vaughan

Correction: Or is it the helicopter that is supposed to be guarding the convoy? No way to tell, but since they did have air support it stands to reason that the shadow could be from that helicopter.

Dog Soldiers (2002)

Corrected entry: Near the end of the film when the werewolves finally get in the house, Cooper runs into a bathroom and locks the door. Look at the small window to his right and you can see daylight streaming in, even though it's supposed to be night.

Jack Vaughan

Correction: It's moonlight. You can see it coming through the windows in several scenes.
