Trivia: The book that this movie is based on is a fake. The author Thomas E Gaddis admitted he never met Stroud until 1962 in a courthouse in Kansas City for 30 seconds. His story came from his mother, ex-cons who knew him or he just made them up. Stroud was never allowed to see the film.

Trivia: The song that Davy Jones sings called "Girl" is from a 1971 Paramount film called "Star Spangled Girl" starring Sandy Duncan. Durning the singing a poster from that film can be seen in the background on the walls with Duncan's picture on them.

Trivia: When Joe Buck is have sex with the woman they keep rolling over on a TV remote. Twice we see actress Sandy Duncan talking on a phone from a late 1960's New York dating show. Duncan can also be seen a number of times as an extra in party scenes in the film.

Trivia: The famous fainting scene was filmed over a two days of filming. If you look close clothing on some of the extras changes during the scene.

Hello Dolly! (1969)

Trivia: Director Gene Kelly's first choice to play Minnie Fay was not E J Peaker, but Sandy Duncan, who he had seen dance and sing on Broadway and was perfect for the part - she did a screen test but was turned down. Kelly next wanted Ann-Marget but was also turned down. Peaker went on to a short nine film career, Hello Dolly was her first, she was better known for her TV work.

Trivia: The woman that gets Leo banned was his actress Laraine Day. What happened was that she was married for five years (1942-1947) to a guy named Harry Hendricks. She went to Mexico on January 22.1947 and got a divorce and the next day in El Paso Texas married Leo. But when they retired to California she was told that both the Mexico divorce and the marriage to Leo were illegal. She was still married to Hendricks, she had to wait a year. She did marry Leo on Febuary 16,1948 and they were married for 12 years. Leo was also banned for his habit in LA and Las Vagas of hanging around with underworld types like gangster Mickey Cohn.
