Midnight Cowboy

Trivia: The most famous line in this film is purely ad-libbed. Apparently a tough New York cabbie broke through and drove across one shoot, nearly running down Jon Voight (Joe Buck) and Dustin Hoffman (Enrico Salvatore "Ratso" Rizzo). Notice Voight's startled expression. Hoffman, still in character, slams on the hood and shouts at the cabbie, "Hey, I'm walkin' here. I'm walkin' here."

Trivia: The only X-rated film (as the rating was replaced by NC-17 in 1990) to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Trivia: The John Voight role was originally offered to Elvis Presley. Unbelievably ,as it would surely have kick started The King's movie comeback, Col. Parker, without consulting Elvis, turned the role down.

Trivia: Sylvia Miles was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role as Cass, even though she had only five minutes of screen time.

Trivia: When Joe Buck is have sex with the woman they keep rolling over on a TV remote. Twice we see actress Sandy Duncan talking on a phone from a late 1960's New York dating show. Duncan can also be seen a number of times as an extra in party scenes in the film.

Cass: You were gonna ask me for money? Who the hell do you think you're dealing with, some old slut on 42nd Street? In case you didn't happen to notice it, ya big Texas longhorn bull, I'm one helluva gorgeous chick.

Question: What was Ratso cooking in the frying pan (the scene where he was slicing green pepper into the food)?

MARC6314

Answer: Coconut.

No, we see them trying to break the coconut (and failed miserably) after Ratso made that dish (and it looks like some kind of stew, probably made from the tomato we saw them steal at the same time they stole the coconut, and green peppers).
