Continuity mistake: When Maurice and Henry sit on the bench after the bar scene there's light on the left side of Maurice's face when we see them from the front, but no light at all when we see them from the side. (00:43:15)

Continuity mistake: When Captain Smith says to Mr. Murdoch "let's stretch her legs" the light comes from the port side. When Murdoch enters the bridge the light comes from starboard. (00:29:00)

Continuity mistake: During the first meal on the Titanic (the one where Cal plucks Rose's cigarette from the holder) the stone on Rose's necklace changes between almost disappearing in her dress and about two inches above. (00:33:10)

Continuity mistake: When Rose attempts suicide she is holding onto the railing while standing on the outside. In some shots the black lace from her dress is held under her left hand, in some it isn't. (00:37:40)

Titanic (1997)

Revealing mistake: When Jack rescues Rose from her suicide attempt she slips. In the shot from behind when she is seen dangling precariously her (or the stuntwoman's) hair is longer and redder. Kate's stunt double is noticeable in other shots throughout the film. (00:40:55)

Titanic (1997)

Continuity mistake: When Rose slips during her suicide attempt and Jack grabs her right hand there's a shot from behind where her left hand is holding on to the second railing bar from the bottom. When the camera angle changes she is holding on to the bottom bar, and in the next shot again to the second. It's unimaginable that she would change her grip that frequently in this situation. Titanic (1997)

Continuity mistake: On the day after Rose got the diamond she and Jack talk a walk on the deck. From the light on the deck you can tell that the sun is still fairly high up. When the camera angle changes and we see them from behind the deck is in the dark, and the sun is falling in almost horizontal. When they sit down to look at Jack's drawings the sun is higher again. Audio problem: After Jack asks Rose "do you love the guy or not?" the camera shows him from behind, and he is moving his jaw as if he is asking the question again. (00:47:30)

Titanic (1997)

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, when the safe is being opened, there's a close-up of the grinding wheel digging into the metal. In the next shot the crewman who does the job is only kneeling down, while the grinding sound is already there. (00:09:00)

Other mistake: At the beginning of the movie Mr. Hundert asks Martin Blythe to read the plaque with Shutruk-Nahunte's, King of Ansham and Susa, self-adulation. For some unexplained reason Martin skips the two passages referring to Shutruk's god Inshushinak. At the end of the movie his son does the same. (00:09:10 - 01:40:25)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: Mr. Hundert's tie knot changes sometimes between shots, for example when he enters the teachers' meeting room after putting the boys to bed, or near the end of the movie when he goes to the bathroom after the contest at Sedgewick Bell's mansion. (00:11:40 - 01:28:50)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: Hundert is seen twice rowing in the morning. Both times his hair doesn't have a touch of grey, in contrast to the rest of the movie. (00:13:05 - 00:51:40)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: When Sedgewick Bell arrives at the school he steps out of the car with his school bag in his hand. The camera cuts to Hundert's class, then back to Sedgewick, carrying no bag. (00:15:10)

NancyFelix

Factual error: When Sedgewick shows off his sex magazins to his mates you can tell from the modestly covered beauties that they are from the fifties, not from the mid seventies when the movie is set. Also the hint theat they are 'from France' would have meant something in the fifties, not in the seventies. (00:22:00)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: In the scene where the boys startle Mr. Hundert by clapping their books shut simultaneously his writing on the blackboard changes several times. The word 'named' which he wrote last appears in at least three different versions. (00:28:00)

NancyFelix

Other mistake: When Sedgewick is asked to complete the writing on the blackboard by adding what Octavian was named he guesses 'Emperor'. Mr. Hundert agrees, however, later we see that Sedgewick has written 'Augustus', although we neither see him writing nor is this name mentioned by anybody, and Sedgewick himself doesn't have any clue. (00:30:00)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: Hundert gives Sedgewick one of his old study books. Sedgewick picks it up after Hundert leaves the room, and when the camera angle changes the book in his hands is turned by 90 degrees. (00:38:55)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: When Hundert tries to prove that he can still bat his tie changes several times between thrown over the shoulder and hanging down. (00:43:45)

NancyFelix

Plot hole: When Hundert hits the ball into the window of Mr. Woodbridge's car he keeps standing there for a moment with the club in his hand while the boys run away. Woodbridge looks in his direction and should have seen him, however, he starts asking around who the culprit was. (00:44:20)

NancyFelix

Continuity mistake: When Hundert smashes the window of Mr. Woodbridge's car with a baseball, the boy to his left is seen picking up his stuff twice before he escapes. (00:44:25)
