Bruce Trestrail

Corrected entry: Mike and Elliot hijack the van holding E.T. and abandon it in a park, which is shown to be a significant distance from their home. When the Feds and Elliot's mother (Mary) finally show up at the now abandoned van, Harvey, the family dog, is shown waiting for them at the rear of the van. How did Harvey get there? He didn't go in the van with Mike and Elliot. If you look carefully at Mary's car when she is backing out of the driveway, you see that there is no dog, only Mary and Gert. Even if Mary did take the dog, it is shown being there before they arrive at the park.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: When Michael drives the van onto the playground and stops, in the shot from behind the three boys on their bikes we actually see Harvey, the dog, between Greg and Steve. Earlier, when Michael steals the van he stops to tell his three friends to bring his and Elliott's bikes and to meet up at the playground, so we can surmise that Harvey went along with Steve, Tyler, and Greg (and the extra two bikes) to the playground, and when all the boys took off with ET they presumably told Harvey to stay put and wait at the van.

Zombieland (2009)

Corrected entry: Bill Murray's mansion is impressive with well maintained gardens and recently mowed lawns. So are the other mansions in his neighborhood. How can this be when the Zombies have been in control for months if not years? The properties should be overgrown.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: Ohio kid states in the opening scene that it had been exactly two months since the first guy took a bite of a burger that was infected with the virus, and it would have taken time to spread from there.

The Thing (1982)

Corrected entry: When the dog/alien first attacks the other dogs in the kennel, Mac come into the room, takes charge of the situation and and orders "Bennings, go get Childs". When Bennings finds Childs, his first words are "Childs, Mac wants the flamethrower". Mac never mentioned a flamethrower. This line helped move the plot quickly forward, but it does not fit.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: As soon as Mac says Bennings "go get Childs" it cuts immediately to the guys in the hall wondering what is happening. In that time Mac could easily have specified the flamethrowers, they just didn't show it.

Prometheus (2012)

Corrected entry: To enter the central sector of the alien spaceship, David, the android, cleverly types some signal that causes the door to open. We see him climb a silver metallic ladder to reach the necessary keys to make this happen. Where did this ladder come from? The crew did not bring it, and it was not shown prior to David using it.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: It was a telescopic ladder, and it was in one of the supply packs that the crew were carrying.

Galaxy Quest (1999)

Corrected entry: Just before the pig-lizard is teleported and then explodes, one of the Thermians says that the equipment has never been tested. So how did the humans get onto the spaceship in the first place?

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: They used the goo pod things. Remember when they sent Jason back to earth? He stepped on a pad, and goo formed around him and he was shot through a black hole. Same thing happened for the humans getting to the ship. It was even shown in the movie when the Thermian girl hologram ordered several pods to blast the humans to the ship.

World War Z (2013)

Corrected entry: The hunt for a cure begins with Brad Pitt and his team flying off a very small aircraft carrier in a large C-130 Transport. This is completely impossible. This type of aircraft has never been nor can it be launched from any aircraft carrier. The small aircraft carrier in the movie is only suitable for helicopters and Harrier jump jets.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: C-130 has been landed and launched from an aircraft carrier. Here's a link to YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar-poc38C84.

Robin Hood (2010)

Corrected entry: As Robin and his men first ride into Nottingham, just prior to meeting Friar Tuck, they ride past a large tree stump, cut very low to the ground. This stump has been smoothly cut with a chain saw, not with an ax, as would have occurred in Robin's time.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: Or with a two man saw, such as they did have in that time?

Taken (2008)

Corrected entry: When the security chief first sees Brian sneaking aboard the yacht, he quickly speaks to the owner in a foreign language that is translated in subtitles as "the girl's father wants her back". If you follow the sequence of events leading to this scene, the security chief has no way of knowing or reason to think that Brian in Kim's father. The scene where Brian kills the auctioneer has occurred only moments before. Kim is one of three girls being kidnapped, so the security chief should have said "one of the girls fathers wants her back."

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: He didn't say which girl is the man's daughter. He doesn't know. The statement he made is factually correct while still vague enough to be a reasonable assumption on his part. There is no mistake.

Moon (2009)

Corrected entry: Gravity on the moon is only a fraction of that on earth. The filmmakers properly try to display this on those shots taken outside the station, on the surface of the moon. These shots are similar to what we are used to seeing on real historic moon walks. However, no effort at all was made to simulate the lack of gravity on those shots taken inside the station, resulting in a very unrealistic presentation of a moon settlement.

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: Two words: artifical gravity. If they have the technology to build a moon settlement, it's not a stretch at all to accept they have invented a means to artifically create Earth-like gravity.

Phixius

Corrected entry: A group of Japanese soldiers, standing in a small circle in a cave, commit suicide one at a time, using grenades. Each grenade harms only the solder pulling the pin and no-one else. In reality, every grenade would have wounded and perhaps killed everyone in the group. (01:14:20)

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: People are mistaken about the power of hand grenades, caused by years of Hollywood blockbusters showing them virtually demolishing buildings. In reality, a small grenade from WW2, especially clutched to the chest like they did, will only kill that person, possibly small shrapnel wounds to those nearby. The TV show Mythbusters had the old "jump on a hand grenade to save your friends" myth (which turned out to be true) and many people were surprised by how small the explosion was of a grenade just sitting on the ground. Even ten feet away you could survive with maybe minor wounds.

Corrected entry: A group of solders, standing in a small circle in a cave, commit suicide, one at a time, using grenades. Four suicides are seen on camera. The time from arming the grenade to the explosion is less than two seconds in first, second and fourth suicide and about three second in third. Clearly, no army would equip it's soldiers with grenades that would explode faster than they could be thrown. (01:14:20)

Bruce Trestrail

Correction: Grenade fuses are commonly set to explode with 3.5 to 5.5 second fuses. some are set with no fuse, but to explode on impact. It doesn't take long to pull a pin and throw, certainly not more than 2 to 3 seconds, tops.
