Friends (1994)

Season 1 generally

Trivia: In the first season there was no street behind the coffee shop,(for budget reasons), instead they used a painted background and a lot of flowers in the window frames of Central Perk to hide this.

Friends (1994)

Trivia: The only 2 characters who have not kissed in the show are Monica and Joey. Rachel kissed Monica: to get their apartment back; Phoebe: so Phoebe could see how good a kisser Rachel was; Ross: well we all know that story!; Chandler: to hide that he and Monica were dating had to kiss all three girls after he made the mistake of just kissing Monica goodbye; Joey: the two briefly dated and first kissed in Barbados. Chandler has kissed Monica (of course), Rachel (while covering for his relationship with Monica), Phoebe (while covering for his relationship and also when on a fake date before revealing said relationship), Joey (New Year's Eve in season 1 when Chandler is complaining about not having anyone to kiss), and Ross (implied during Rachel's birthday party where he was very drunk). Ross has kissed Rachel (of course), Phoebe (when he found out his wife was a lesbian), Monica (when he was in college and thought he was kissing Rachel while she slept), Joey (when Joey had to kiss a man for a role and Ross wanted to help him), and Chandler (mentioned to have happened during Rachel's birthday when he was very drunk). Phoebe has kissed Ross (above), Chandler (above), Joey (testing his ability, pretending to be Ursula, after David leaves, etc.), Rachel (above), Monica (before leaving for London, albeit just a lip peck). Rachel - mentioned in this entry already.

Friends (1994)

Chosen answer: It's not "referencing" anything. It's a joke that Monica excitedly thinks she might be pregnant due to Joey's remark, when the truth is she's not, and knows she isn't, so wants to move on quickly to spare her embarrassment.

Brad

Answer: The joke also makes more sense if you write her response as "Really?...Okay, let's get past the moment."

Friends (1994)

Chosen answer: There's a behind the scenes feature on a Friends DVD that shows an example: In "The One After Vegas"(Season 6 premiere), Chandler's line was originally "I don't think they're as much dating as they are drunk." Matthew Perry thought the line wasn't funny and came up with the alternative seen in the episode: "I don't think they're as much dating as they are two bottles of vodka walking around in human form."

Friends (1994)

Chosen answer: A lot of these scenes are shot over the shoulder of one or the other character, if you watch closely, the one whose back is to the camera is often a double. For the most part, they'd film one character's part, reset and have Lisa Kudrow change clothes, then film the other one's part. It's the same technique used in "The Parent Trap" (Lindsay Lohan) and a couple of Eddie Murphy movies ("The Nutty Professor" and "Norbit", that I know of).

Show generally

Question: When the friends gang can't get in or out of Monica's apartment because they have locked the keys in or out why couldn't the other gang members let them borrow theirs? In the last ever episode it shows them having a key each.

Shadow5

Chosen answer: That doesn't mean they all had keys before the final episode. The lockout incident happened earlier in the series when Rachel was still living with Monica. It could be that after they got locked out, the girls decided everyone should have a key to their apartment to avoid another similar dilemma.

Friends (1994)

Chosen answer: Gunther is rather particular about his appearance, keeping his hair carefully cut and colored, and is always wearing well chosen shirts and ties. This is what is commonly referred today as being "metro-sexual" which a lot of people consider to be gay. Gay men (stereotypically) are particular about how they look, so she just assumes. Also, since he is SO in love with Rachel, he doesn't have other relationships to prove her opinion incorrect because he is always hoping she will be single soon and notice him. Who can say why he is so in love with Rachel. Why does ANYONE love someone else? Infatuation? Her looks? Her personality? We will never know. Love is funny that way.
