Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Plot hole: When Ethan meets the Secretary in the car, he tells him that Hendricks was seen leaving the Kremlin with the nuclear launch device and deduces that he is Cobalt. The Secretary then gives Ethan the flash drive containing his mission, which Ethan reads on the train. Ethan then tells the rest of the team that - according to the mission - IMF believes that Hendricks is Cobalt and was seen leaving the Kremlin with the launch device - hence why he needs to buy the launch codes from Moreau. How could IMF have known about this information to put it on the drive, given that Ethan just told the Secretary in the car?

New this month Suggested correction: Ethan asks Brandt to identify the man he saw (Hendricks). Brandt explains that he is a nuclear physicist with extreme views ("he's crazy). Ethan then refers to him as "Cobalt." IMF always knew, or at least suspected, that Hendricks was Cobalt. Ethan simply confirmed that he was the man in the Kremlin.

Factual error: The cars in the car park scene are left hand drive (specially the ones involving the main action scenes), but the sequence is set in India, where the cars are right hand drive.

Factual error: When Tom Cruise chases the villain in a parking lot in Mumbai, the "Parking" sign is written in Kannada (the scene was shot in the Sun Network station at Bangalore). Regional signs in Mumbai are in Hindi or Marathi (the state language of Maharashtra, of which Mumbai is the capital).

Trivia: The number A113 (which appeared in Brad Bird's previous films The Incredibles and Ratatouille) makes two appearances here. The first is on the side of Hanaway's ring in the flashback sequence, and the second is verbally as Ethan's agent ID that he recites through the phone after he escapes from the hospital. (00:14:40)

Trivia: The language spoken in the video by Kurt Hendricks (in the IMF section of the train) is not Russian, despite the eagle and nametags in Russian, but Swedish, Mikael Nyqvist's (the actor portraying Kurt Hendricks) native language.

Trivia: During the flashback sequence to the failed letter drop mission, we see Hanaway's lens cam recognizing people in the crowd. One of these names is Jeffery Chernov, who is an executive producer on the movie.

New this month Question: What does Hendricks mean by "lock Russian Central Command out of the system" when preparing the launch? Wasn't the satellite already owned by the billionaire (with the central command in India)?

ricardoglez22

New this month Chosen answer: The missile launches from a Russian silo. They want to stop them preventing the launch locally.

New this month Question: How did they locate Hendricks inside the TV station? I don't understand how the nuclear codes help.

ricardoglez22

New this month Chosen answer: The code Jane got from Brij Nath (the Indian billionaire) was not a nuclear launch code, it was an access code for an old Russian satellite Nath owned, which Hendricks was using to launch the missile. Once Benji had the codes, he used the satellite to locate where Hendricks was also accessing the satellite from the TV station.

New this week Question: What's The Fog's angle? Why does he tell on Ethan to Sidorov? Ethan intended this so that Sidorov would later find him. But as far as The Fog is concerned, what does he gain?

New this week Answer: He considers Hunt to be a friend, so did what he asked. In addition, by carrying out the deal he has ingratiated himself with Sidorov as well.
