Revealing mistake: During the big fight scene, just as Annie Wilkes falls to the floor and hits her head on the typewriter, the actress is replaced by a really bad looking Kathy Bates dummy!

Misery (1990)
Directed by: Rob Reiner
Starring: Frances Sternhagen, James Caan, Kathy Bates, Richard Farnsworth
Audio problem: In the scene where James Caan is lying in bed, practising grabbing a large knife from his arm sling, there is the metallic sound as he pulls out the knife. In the sling are his arm and the knife. There is nothing metal the knife could be pulled against to make that sound.
Revealing mistake: When Paul goes through Annie's scrapbook, a fast reader may notice that several newspaper clippings (although having different headlines and being based on separate events), have the exact same story underneath. The text has simply been repeated, rather than a new report being created for each story.
Trivia: When Kathy Bates picked up her Oscar and made her speech, one thing she earnestly said was, "I'd like to publicly apologize to James Caan for the ankles."
Trivia: There was a scene filmed in which Annie Wilkes runs over a younger police officer with a lawnmower, but it was cut because the director thought audiences would laugh at it.
Suggested correction: The incident that this question is referring to is in the book - it was never added in the movie. Annie kills the young cop with her lawnmower. It was left out of the movie because the director didn't want the audience to hate the actress Kathy Bates, also which is why he had her use a sledgehammer instead of cutting off his feet.
Trivia: Director Rob Reiner makes a cameo as the helicopter pilot helping Buster search for Paul's car.
Annie Wilkes: Now the time has come. I put two bullets in my gun. One for me, and one for you. Oh darling, it will be so beautiful.
Annie Wilkes: Oh forgive me Paul for prattling away and making everything all oogy.
Annie Wilkes: God came to me last night and told me your purpose for being here. I am going to help you write a new book.
Paul Sheldon: You think I can just whip one out?
Annie Wilkes: Oh, but I don't think Paul, I know.
Question: Is there any reference to where Annie Wilkes goes at night when she is angry or depressed?
Answer: According to the book, she goes to what she calls her "laughing place" (itself a reference to the Disney movie "Song of the South" in which brer rabbit sings about having a "laughing place. A "laughing place" is where he goes when he's feeling blue, to cheer himself up. We can presume Annie has some cabin or clearing in the woods where she has made her own "laughing place.
