Factual error: We're told they carbon dated the gold to determine its age. Problem is, the gold hasn't aged by the normal processs - as it's been brought forward in time it will appear to be extremely new. As such carbon dating wouldn't work. Also, carbon dating only works on things that were alive and absorbed carbon-14; gold, having never been alive, could not be dated this way.

Other mistake: When the man is in front of the Senate committee asking for appropriations for the Time Enforcement Commission, he states that you can not go into the future as it has not happened yet. During the scene with Atwood scanning the USA Today, the date on the paper is October 30, 2004. So, one could assume that this is the current date. Later on in the movie, there is a news report on the television with the woman stating that McComb's campaign might be denied federal campaign matching funds, and that McComb might have to withdraw from the race. Now, being that the election is only three days away on November 2, 2004, it would be a little too late to withdraw from the race, not to mention the lateness in the determination if he is eligible for federal campaign matching funds.
Factual error: As Walker and Atwood are falling from the building in 1929 New York City, the reflection of Vancouver's Harbor Centre is visible in windows. Furthermore, the Harbor Centre was completed in 1977, so this is a double goof. (00:22:45)

Fielding: I really could care less whether you like me or not, but you don't know a thing about me. I was with IA for two years, I'm field-rated in weapons and tactics, and speak three languages. Impressed?
Walker: I'm blown away.
Fielding: I read the Atwood file.
Walker: You didn't mention you could read.
Question: What type of guns did the time traveler use to kill the Confederate soldiers?
Question: When Lyle is at his desk, he has two newspapers in front of him and he is circling the same stock on both of them. One newspaper is for the year he's currently in, 1929. The second one is from 2004. How could stocks from the same newspaper 75 years apart possibly be helpful in getting McComb to the presidency?
Answer: Also, it was strongly implied that Lyle Atwood was in New York City shortly after the massive Wall Street crash that occurred in October of 1929, so all he would need to do is find stocks that still exist and are doing well in 2004 and buy those particular stocks when they're presumably at their lowest value in history; the payoff after 75 years would be astronomical for the stockholder.
Answer: Any stock that massively increased in value between 1929 and 2004 would be a great investment for a time traveller, providing vast quantities of wealth to help fund a presidential campaign, for example.
Question: How can their house still be standing in 2004 when it was destroyed in 1994? Even if they rebuilt it it wouldn't look s old, it would only be a few years old.
Answer: In one of the flashbacks, it is shown that the wife designed the house and had been thinking about it for a long time. I think the easiest answer to this is: the house was simply rebuilt the same as it was.
Answer: My understanding was the timeline had been reset in such a way that the explosion had never happened.
Except that the explosion did happen. When Max carries Melissa out of the house to prevent her death again, their house is exploding in the background. This is because McComb had placed a bomb in the house to ensure that the explosion would kill Max which of course had ultimately failed.
The explosion happened, but it was before Max returned to his own time in the future. Once he went back through the time portal, everything somehow reset itself to before the bomb being detonated. The previous events in the past were erased in favor of an alternate timeline. The movie does not attempt to give a logical explanation, and it makes no sense, as most time-travel stories never do, but a "suspension of disbelief" is employed here. We're supposed to accept that it happened. Max is the only character who knows what the previous timeline was like, but he now has no idea of current events (like his wife and son being alive) in his alternate life during the intervening time from when he was in the past and returns to the "new" present.
