Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Continuity mistake: When the queen is being escorted by some droids after she has been captured, there is a shot of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon watching the queen from a balcony. The shot shows the queen passing by them. Qui-Gon then takes a few steps and is somehow very far ahead of the queen and the droids. They didn't use the force run because Jar-Jar was right up with them. (00:21:30)

Continuity mistake: When the queen is being escorted by some droids after she has been captured, the shadows change completely. When we first see everyone walking past, their shadows stretch ahead of them, but when we see them walking towards Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, the shadows are really elongated and at an angle. (00:21:30)

Continuity mistake: When the gungan submarine exits the water, you can see water flowing on the force field. The shot later, the submarine is completely dry. (00:21:30)

Other mistake: When the Jedi, the Queen and her entourage enter the hangar before they leave Naboo, only four of them are reflected in the shiny starship above them. The others are not. (00:23:15)

Continuity mistake: When the Queen and her entourage enter the hangar where the pilots are being held, Jar Jar is not among the first people who walk in. In the next shot from behind, he is suddenly walking in the front part of the group. (00:25:15)

Continuity mistake: After R2-D2 repairs the shield generator of the Queen's ship and the power comes back, in the next shot of Artoo on top of the ship, the hose that the droid plugged into the generator is gone. (00:25:20)

Continuity mistake: When Amidala's starship runs the blockade, after the spacecraft flies towards the screen, there's a shot where R2-D2 is missing from the top of the ship. (00:25:35)

Continuity mistake: When Padme is cleaning R2D2 and chatting to Jar-Jar, the film's reversed in the final shot of Natalie Portman smiling. The easiest way to notice it is that when we're looking at R2D2, normally his lens is to the right of a blue/red light, but in the final shot the lens is now to the left of that light. (00:27:57)

Continuity mistake: When Padmé is to come with Qui-Gon after the Queen's ship has landed on Tatooine, he says, "This is not a good idea", and something blurry flies by in the upper right hand corner. It is not there before or after. (00:29:25)

Continuity mistake: When Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are landing the Naboo ship on Tatooine to repair it, watch the landing closely. The shadow of the ship is already on the ground before the ship lands on it. Also the ship tilts back and forth during the landing but the shadow never changes or moves. Also, if you look carefully at the dust (which was shot using a helicopter landing) some of the dust being flicked up actually passes through the ship. (00:29:55)

Continuity mistake: In the first scene in Watto's shop, a cloth lying on a device on his desk keeps changing position between shots. (00:30:25)

Continuity mistake: Jar Jar knocks down a bunch of droids in Watto's shop, but when they leave, you can see the feet of the now stacked up droids. (00:33:15)

Continuity mistake: When the storm is approaching and Anakin offers them a safe haven, as they set off you can see R2D2 in the background and there are no tread tracks leading to him - he's obviously been carried there and set down to wheel away. (00:36:20)

Continuity mistake: In the shot where Qui-Gon introduces himself to Anakin's mother, Jar Jar, Padmé, R2-D2 and Anakin are standing half a metre to the left (your right) of where they were standing in the previous shot. (00:36:50)

Continuity mistake: When Anakin, Qui-Gon, Jar-Jar and Padmé arrives at Anakin's house, they are near each other. In the next shot, view from inside the house, Anakin is separated from the others. (00:38:10)

Revealing mistake: When Qui-Gon, Jar-Jar, and Padme are eating at Anakin's house, Anakin's mum pours water for Qui-Gon. But when she gets to Jar-Jar, she tips the pitcher but no water comes out. (00:39:10)

Qui-Gon Jinn: You must have Jedi reflexes if you race pods.
[Jar Jar tries to grab a piece of fruit with his tounge, but Qui-Gon catches it.]
Qui-Gon Jinn: Don't do that again.

Trivia: Senator Grebleips, who appears when the Queen of Naboo speaks to the senate, is an alien from "E.T." making a cameo appearance. This is after Steven Spielberg ('Grebleips' is 'Spielberg' backwards) included some "Star Wars" references in "E.T."

Question: When someone becomes a Sith, they take a different name, i.e. Palpatine becomes Darth Sidious, Count Dooku becomes Darth Tyranus, Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. Does anyone know Darth Maul's non-Sith name?

Answer: No. According to the official sources, Maul was trained in the Sith ways from a very early age - it's quite likely that he himself doesn't remember his original name. Even if he does remember it, it would mean nothing to him any more - the Sith and their ways are his life - and he certainly wouldn't answer to it. According to the non-canon novel "Darth Plagueis", Darth Maul was named "Maul" by his mother before she turned him over to a young Palpatine. He didn't take a new name when he got the title "Darth."
