Men in Black 3

Plot hole: When (future) Agent J and (future) Boris are fighting on top of the large red docking station for the spaceship, Agent J gets shot deliberately by Boris and jumps off the edge of the dock. Then he uses his time travel device to go back in time a few seconds earlier to be able to dodge the shots. There are a few mistakes in this part. 1) There should be another Agent J and Boris there too, as they have gone back in time to that moment again. However in the movie there are only two of them. 2) The injuries sustained by Agent J (the bone spikes in his abdomen) should have remained there when he went back in time. If it were true that you healed once you went back in time into the condition you were in at that moment, then Boris should have grown an arm back when he went back in time. 3) Due to the time loop, Agent J remembers how to dodge the shots, while Boris doesn't remember anything and is surprised by the outcome. Suggested correction: #3 Boris doesn't remember that they just went back in time, as he wasn't doing/holding the Time Jump Device.

Continuity mistake: In the first Men in Black, when K is deleting J's history; He deletes his birthday which was in 1969. The third film is set in 1969 and when K meets a young J, he is about 7 or 8. This would mean he was born no later than 1962, not 1969. (01:33:30)

Suggested correction: K First met J in 1969 and knows he will meet him again due to the time travel events in the movie. Agent O said that time travel was banned because it was so dangerous. Presumably, K could have been dismissed from the MIB if it was found that he knew of a time travel event and did not report it. Therefore, immediately following the events of the movie, Young K probably altered J's birth certificate himself, knowing that he could get away with it. Note the smirk on K's face in the first movie when he deleted J's birth certificate that he had altered himself.

In the first Men In Black, K very specifically says, "1968, well I guess you weren't born yet." to J.

Yes, because K still needs to cover up his involvement in time travel.

Plot hole: Lunar-Max prison is obviously part of MiB, them creating it for the purpose of holding Boris the Animal, and other criminals of worth as well. A high tech prison built on the moon with cutting edge technology and armed guards out the boot. Boris trashes the place, sounding all kinds of alarms and busting out, even blowing a sizable hole in the side of one of the complexes. He then jacks a ship off the moon's surface and crashes it back down to Earth. MiB doesn't know about it until almost a full day later when they realise the ship they found was from the moon, and Boris had escaped. It makes no sense that it took them that long to find out the information. A maximum prison, especially one to contain aliens on the moon, would be in contact with MiB. And any alarm that goes off there, especially for a break out of a high danger prisoner such as Boris the Animal, would have sent an alert to MiB headquarters right off if there was any logic to their system at all. There is only about a 1.5 second delay for a message traveling at light speed to reach Earth from the moon due to its distance. So within seconds of Boris busting out, MiB should have already been mobilizing to track where he would be going and intercept. There's no way, that logically, Boris could have escaped, made it back to Earth, and been there for nigh a day without MiB knowing about it and having their agents already tracking him down. Suggested correction: Boris made his escape and trip to Earth in a matter of minutes, of course MIB were tracking him in that time, it's just not shown on screen.

Factual error: When Boris jumps out of Lunar-Max, you can see a complete Apollo Lunar-Module (LM). The LM consists of a Descent Stage and an Ascent Stage. We can see both, obviously the Ascent Stage was never used. That doesn't make any sense, because the Apollo Astronauts need to use/"consume" (climb in and "fly" away) the Ascent Stage to leave the moon.

Suggested correction: It could just be a copy of the original. For all we know the lunar landing was staged in this world.

This is far too much of a stretch to be a valid correction. What reason would there be to put a copy there? Also, the Apollo 11 mission to the moon absolutely having to happen is literally a plot point.

TedStixon

The men in black have shown to use alien technology for many of the things they do. This could include the Lunar-Max prison. I agree the lunar landing is a plot point and thus probably true, but why not make a replica in front of the prison as a monument? It doesn't have to be built right next to the site of the first lunar landing. Seems a bit silly to me.

lionhead

Remember, one of the site's rules is "don't just try to think of an excuse" when correcting entries. Nothing in the film suggests it's a monument, therefore suggesting it's one to try and correct the entry is not valid.

TedStixon

I look at if it's plausible. I guessed since in this universe humans have access to advanced technology the moon landing seems to be more of a coverup for something secret or simply a staged thing. I think this because in MIB 1 they show the world expo observatory towers were in fact real spaceships and they had been there since 1964, so they already had spaceships before ever going to the moon. Again, though, its not relevant to the mistake. It's also obvious with the prison on the moon that they have been there multiple times and thus changed a lot. Building the prison in front of the landing site is again a bit strange so therefor I think it's just a replica, to show visitors. It's not impossible so it can hardly be called a mistake, just something that isn't explained. I'm not making excuses, there may not be actual evidence that it is a replica, but there is no evidence it is the real landing module either.

lionhead

I don't understand how the Men in Black using alien technology has anything to do with this entry. Regardless, nothing in the film suggests that the capsule is a monument. It's even roped off, much like museums often rope off actual artifacts.

Other mistake: When K wipes little James' memory at Cape Canaveral, he uses a small neuralyzer, but we've seen at the beginning that in 1969 the MiB only have the big tubes, and K doesn't have J's future neuralyzer anymore; he gave it back already after their mono-wheels chase.

Suggested correction: What K has is probably their first and only portable neuralyzer, maybe even a prototype. The big one is their main neuralyzer. You may notice there are no dials on this one, so he has no ability to wipe a specific amount of memory.

Continuity mistake: After busting out of the cake and killing the two Lunar Max guards, Boris' hand creature goes to free him. It first blasts spikes at the shackles on his legs and busts them, then begins climbing up to work on Boris' arm piece. In the shot where his leg shackles come off, you see the spike the creature shoots at them stuck in the metal and hanging off to the side. But in the shot where his arm piece falls to the floor, these spikes have vanished from his leg shackles. (00:03:35)

Trivia: Even though Frank the pug doesn't appear, there are a couple of references to him. The first one is a big picture of him over J's bed and when J gets pulled over by the cops, there is a billboard advertising for "The Amazing Talking Pug." (00:22:35 - 00:40:25)
