American Psycho

Revealing mistake: When Patrick brings Sabrina into his apartment for a threesome with Christie, as the camera passes the open door to the bathroom, you can see Christie stood still by the door, waiting for her cue to walk in. (00:40:23)

Revealing mistake: When Patrick opens his fridge to offer Jean some sorbet, you can see the decapitated head of a woman in the fridge. If you pay close attention, you can see the head is moving a little. (00:59:36)

Suggested correction: It's a prop head resting on a freezer shelf. It could simply be that opening the freezer door causes the head to sway a little, similar to if you had an egg, lemon, or something else that didn't have a flat bottom resting on a shelf inside a fridge.

No, the way it was filmed was with the actual actress putting her head up through a hole in shelf. It's her head moving.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene after Patrick Bateman's second encounter with the detective in his office, we see Bateman having sex at Courtney's apartment. After he rolls off her, Bateman approaches the large, stand-up mirror in the bedroom. In the upper right hand corner of the mirror, a boom microphone can clearly be seen moving around to pick up Christian Bale's lines. The next time we get the same long shot, the microphone is gone. Trivia: Willem Dafoe was asked to play Donald Kimball in 3 different ways: he thought Bateman was guilty, he didn't think Bateman was guilty, and he wasn't sure if Bateman was guilty. They were all blended together to make the audience not know what Kimball thought of Patrick Bateman.

Question: When Patrick talks to Carnes, he confesses that he murdered Paul Owen. Why doesn't Carnes believe him, and how could Carnes have had dinner with Paul?

Answer: There are two possible answers. First, Carnes doesn't recognize Christian Bale as Bateman, instead thinking he is someone named Davis. He insults Bateman and thinks "Davis" left the message as a joke. Realize also that someone claims to have seen Owen/Allen in London, but mistook Herbert Ainsworth for him. Second, Bateman is delusional and only thinks he killed Owen/Allen, who is in fact alive and in London.
