My Bloody Valentine

Stupidity: The 'big plot twist' is provided by one of the characters being the offspring of one of the victims of the killer miner from 20 years prior - and it is a known fact, apparently. Rewatch the movie with this in mind, and the behaviour of the various characters makes no sense - they keep calling the story some sort of urban legend and treat it with nonchalance, but one of them was literally orphaned by "The Miner" without that fact being mentioned a single time.

Stupidity: When John gets back to the room where Sylvia is supposed to be waiting for him, he completely fails to notice that suddenly every coat in the room has dropped. It would have obscured the sight of their makeshift bed, which obviously would be the first place he'd direct his eyes to. It's just absurd he wouldn't notice.

Revealing mistake: During the fight between Harry and TG near the end, several times you can see when TG hits Harry that the spade bends. (01:21:15)

Howard Landers: Who?
Happy: You.

Trivia: The dog that chases the pick-up when it does a U-turn was just a random stray dog that was caught on film - you can see it was not a trained one because it does actually connect slightly with the vehicle, thankfully without harm (confirmed in the director's DVD commentary).

Question: I don't feel it warrants a plot hole because of technicalities (we never explicitly see him in two places at the same time), but don't you think the movie is very misleading about the identity of the killer? Every time we see a kill, the culprit is accounted for in a bit of a sneaky way. Mabel = he is chilling in a car with the others being very close. Murders at the party = he is drunk and morose, but also should be plotting the most elaborate murder. Also, he has no motive at all for how he acts (kills Happy, who is the only one who shows any respect to the killer), and, in fact, he is the one who tells everyone to run away from the party, saving a lot of lives. Just a case of "he's crazy," I guess? Normally, you'd show them having some sort of split personality or something like that to explain a bit of this erratic behaviour.
