The miner murderer is NOT Harry Warden as we've come to believe, but it is none other than Axel Palmer. His dad was one of the supervisors whose negligence caused the disaster that left Harry completely insane. Axel hid from Harry beneath the bed and bore witness to his dad's violent bloody demise at the hands of the vengeful Harry. Despite apparently being buried alive by Jessie 'T.J.' Hanniger, Axel survives and escapes. He is never caught.
