Continuity mistake: When the army takes Sheeta away, and throw Pazu in the dungeon, Pazu doesn't have his hat, nor is it anywhere in the room. And when he was able to come out, still no hat. But as soon as he leaves the fortress, it suddenly appears.

Other mistake: In the first scene when the hurricane has passed and Pazu and Sheeta land on the cloud, Pazu twirls Sheeta around until they are almost off the edge of the cloud (his toe actually is on the edge of the cloud). But in the next few seconds the direction changes and they end up back on the cloud.

Trivia: You can actually see Muska fall to his death as the lower part of Laputa collapses. It's after the shot showing the pirates on their gliders watching it break apart. You can see a human figure wearing red clothes in the middle right, falling between the rubble. It's very easy to miss since it's small and because of all the debris falling.
