Trivia: If Mary Swanson married Lloyd instead of her fiance she would become Mary Christmas.

Trivia: When Jim Carry said "hey want to hear the most annoying sound in the world?" and makes the weird sound. That scene was not in the script (watch Jeff Daniels).

Trivia: In the bar scene Lloyd sees the newspaper clipping on the wall and says "No way! We landed on the moon?" This wasn't in the script - Jim Carrey improvised the line and it was left in the movie.

Trivia: Seabass actually makes an appearance in Me Myself And Irene as one of the Maine State Troopers at the end of the movie. In both cases, Seabass is played by ex-Boston Bruin, Cam Neely. He's a good friend of the Farrelly Brothers, and Jim Carrey.

Trivia: Jim Carrey really has a chip in his tooth. For the filming of Dumb and Dumber he had the bonding on his tooth removed.

Trivia: When Lloyd pulls the scam on the truckers, he said that he saw it in a movie - the movie he is referring to is 'Something Wild' where Jeff Daniels (who plays Harry) pulls the same scam.

Trivia: When Harry and Lloyd eat the hot peppers, the actors were supposed to eat a red candy, but Jim Carrey accidentally ate one of the peppers.

Trivia: Jeff Daniels plays Harry, and Jim Carrey plays Lloyd - a reference to the comedy actor Harold Lloyd.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Harry's van has bucket seats, yet later on when the "gas-man" rides along, he is sitting on a bench seat in-between Harry and Lloyd. (00:38:00)

Harry: What did you sell him Lloyd?
Lloyd: You know, stuff.
Harry: What kinda stuff?
Lloyd: Few baseball cards, a sack of marbles, [coughs.] Petey.
Harry: Petey? You sold my dead bird to a blind kid? Lloyd, wh- he- wha- Petey didn't even have a head!
Lloyd: Harry, I took care of it.
