The Matrix Reloaded

Trivia: This is just fun. When The Architect is speaking to Neo about the different versions of The Matrix, he explains he had to change it "...to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature." At the precise moment he says "grotesqueries", both father and son George Bush show up on the screens. Coincidence? Nah. (01:13:00)

Trivia: In hacker terminology, a "backdoor" is a way of getting access to certain areas of sites, or getting access to computers, without being detected. This applies to the endless hall of doors as seen in Reloaded.

Trivia: When the Keymaker is explaining the process that Neo must use to get to the source, he says that the door for the architect will only be open for 314 seconds. The mathematical constant, pi begins with 3.14. Coincidence?

Trivia: It was the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever in North America until March 2004 when "The Passion of the Christ" passed it. In the history of R-rated films, it has the shortest reign as grossing champion when it held that title for nearly five months (after it passed "Beverly Hills Cop"). However, it is still the highest-grossing R-rated movie worldwide, taking over 100 million dollars more than The Passion of the Christ.

Trivia: The long haired white wearing goon of the french speaking guy is Reeve's martial arts trainer for the movies.

Trivia: The Merovingian introduces his wife as Persephone. This alludes to Greek mythology, where Persephone was the reluctant wife of Hades, ruler of Hell. This hints that (1) the Merovingian is evil and (2) Persephone doesn't love him (like Persephone hated Hades in mythology).

Trivia: When the first ship is blown up by the sentinel's bomb, they show the sentinels moving towards the ship, notice in the background, there are the remains of one of the old Zion's. You can make out the long central shaft connected by many bridges. This raises the question of how literal the Architect was being when he said that any trace of their existence was removed. Hopefully Revolutions will clear it up...

Trivia: When they are in the matrix the sky and buildings and everything is a shade of green to match the matrix code.

Trivia: At least two points in the movie the number 101 is shown ... 101 was the apartment number of Neo in the first movie. In addition, the freeway race is on the 101 and the 303 (Neo-1, Trinity-3). In addition, 101 is the binary number for 5. 5 Matrixes have already passed and the current one is number 6.

Trivia: The first movie contained several references to Alice in Wonderland. In Reloaded, when we first encounter the twins in the restaurant, they are smoking a hookah pipe, like the caterpillar did in Alice in Wonderland.

Trivia: When the three agents arrive and Neo fights with them, he kicks the final agent into a lamp post. The camera pans to the very top of the lamp post, as the glass falls down the top of the lamp post reads: "Darrow Industries" This is an homage to Geof Darrow, the graphic artist for the films.

Trivia: Webster's Dictionary definition of Bane is anything destructive or ruinous and/or a deadly poison (which Bane becomes when he is Smith-infected). The name Bane can also be a tribute to comic books because Bane is one of Batman's many enemies. (00:33:10 - 00:39:10)

Trivia: Carrie Anne-Moss did most of the motorcycle driving herself on the freeway scene.

Trivia: In "The Matrix," Smith tells Morpheus several interesting things when they are trying to get the access codes for Zion. When he is talking about the humans, he says what he hates is the smell. "I feel I have somehow been infected by it. It's repulsive. I must get out of here, I must get free." Later he says "Once Zion is destroyed there is no need for me to be here." These are all foreshadowing for Reloaded and Revolutions.

Trivia: In a Dateline Special on the special effects of the Matrix Reloaded, host Stone Phillips stated that the special effects shots were not completely done until three weeks before the release date of the movie.

Trivia: Marcus Chong (who played "Tank" in the original film) was going to return for the sequels, but he was fired before filming began. He was reportedly offered $250,000 to return in his supporting role in both follow-ups (five times what he was paid for the first film), but he refused this offer. He ended up demanding $500,000 up front, plus an additional $500,000 bonus after filming was completed (and allegedly made other demands), after which he was fired. He retaliated by filing a lawsuit claiming that the production had labeled him a "terrorist" and subsequently admitted to crashing at least one press-junket for the films, stealing catering food and prank-calling the directors to annoy them.

The Matrix Reloaded mistake picture

Continuity mistake: During the freeway scenes, the katana Morpheus used as a foot hold to grab the keymaker keeps moving. It was at arm's length from the top when he inserted it; when Morpheus was standing on it, the sword was a whole body length below the top; when Morpheus took the sword out in his fight against the agent, it was back in its original position.
