Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man catches Mary Jane as she falls off the balcony, in the shot from above there are two columns lying on the ground - one on the right as we look at it, a few feet from the red area and parallel to it, and one on the left at an angle. In the shot of them landing, the one closest to the red area has disappeared. (01:06:50)
Continuity mistake: At the World Unity Festival, Peter is taking pictures. When he looks up at Harry and M.J. on the balcony, his camera, which has been your average "right handed" camera throughout the film, magically becomes a "left handed" camera. The shot's obviously been reversed - his parting's on the wrong side as well. (01:02:10)
Continuity mistake: When Peter Parker is walking behind Mary Jane, just after they both leave for school, and Mary Jane's father is yelling at her on the street, you see the yellow bus approaching behind them, with no car in front of the bus. As the camera angle changes, you see a black convertible pull up to pick up Mary Jane, and it arrives before the bus, even though the car was nowhere to be seen a second prior. (00:19:15)
Revealing mistake: When Peter catches MJ's falling lunch, the apple lands on its side and doesn't move at all, despite it being round and the tray being moved about so abruptly. Blatantly glued down. (00:22:10)
Other mistake: There is no way possible that MJ, would have been able to fall from the height that she fell from while being knocked from Spider-Man's grasp onto the edge of that cable car during the bridge scene. It's hard enough to believe that she would be able to withstand the force of being knocked around in circles while holding onto a web, let alone landing directly onto the edge of a cable car. (01:44:00)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film when we see Norman Osborn offer Peter his hand, if you watch he offers his hand twice. (01:44:20)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film when Spider-Man is beating up the Green Goblin against a wall, Green Goblin reveals himself, and suddenly the distance from Spider-Man has changed from being really close as in face to face, to about 2 foot away. (01:43:25)
Continuity mistake: During the fight scene at school, the food that was just on Flash's back disappears.
Other mistake: In the scene after Spider-Man stops the convenience store robbers, it shows a newspaper article. This article virtually repeats itself. Here's what you can read: "Witnesses claim an unknown masked man was seen exiting the Ling Deli after stopping two suspects from attempting to rob the establishment. Police spokesman John Young said "we've heard of Samaritans, but in 20 years I've never seen anything like this." The two suspects were taken to the county jail....(cutoff)....attempting to rob that same establishment. Police spokesman John Young said "we've heard of Samaritans, but in 20 years I've never seen anything like this." The two suspects were taken to the county jail." (00:52:25)
Continuity mistake: When Peter runs into Mary Jane leaving her job at the diner, when she says "some dream, huh?" she wraps her jacket around her and folds her arms. After a brief cut of Peter her jacket's open - she then says "don't tell Harry", wraps her jacket around herself and folds her arms again. (00:55:45)
Revealing mistake: During the final fight with the Goblin, Spider-Man is up against the wall and the Goblin goes to stab him with his "quad bladed knife". Spider-Man grabs 2 of the blades and while pushing back you can see all 4 ends of the blades vibrating up and down as if they were made out of rubber. (01:46:55)
Continuity mistake: When Jameson is talking about the headlines regarding Spider-Man, the pencils in the cup keep changing positions between shots. (00:56:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene on the street, right after the crook escapes with the wrestling money, Peter is standing watching all the people rush to his uncle Ben - there is a girl wearing a black leather jacket, white shirt and black go-go boots walking with 2 guys. When Peter runs to his uncle, she is behind him. When Peter pushes through the crowd, the girl is already there, to the right of the shot. (00:41:25)
Continuity mistake: When the part of the balcony where Mary-Jane is starts to break, there's a lamp on it. It vanishes the following shot, then reappears some shots later. (01:07:05)
Continuity mistake: This is towards the end of the scene where Mary Jane had an encounter with the thugs and Spider-Man comes to save the day. After beating up the thugs, Spider-Man leaves through some dark alley way and Mary Jane looks around to find him. Suddenly, Spider-Man comes down his web, upside down, along a wall. She's about 3 feet away when he starts speaking, but when the angle changes and she jumps around she's right in front of him. (01:17:15)
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, we see the bus driving on the right side of the road. When the shot goes to the guy eating the doughnut, look outside the window and the bus is about 2 feet (if that) from the curb. Yet, when we see Peter in the rear view mirror, there are now a lot of cars parked at the curb that we didn't see in the previous shot. (00:03:35)
Continuity mistake: When Osbourne is talking to Peter at the graduation, the scene keeps changing from him having one hand on Peter's shoulder to both to none. You see this just after Harry sees Mary Jane break up with Flash. (00:49:40)
Continuity mistake: When Peter is practising throwing spider webs in his bedroom, his first attempt hits a model rocket and it breaks in many pieces. A few shots later when he finally hits the Dr. Pepper can, as he whips it across the room you can see the rocket back in one piece, just leaning against the wall. (00:33:15)
Continuity mistake: When Peter and his uncle are talking in the car, they are parked on the side of a one way street, with their car in the same direction as the traffic, but when the camera is on the uncle, you can see cars going in the opposite direction reflected in the windows behind him. (00:33:10)
Visible crew/equipment: When the fire breaks out in the building, as the firetruck goes by you can see the reflection of the camera crew on the truck, including a man wearing a white shirt. (01:22:00)
Answer: The following is taken directly from People Magazine May 27, 2002: WORKOUT: Maguire exercised for at least 3.5 hours, six days a week, with his regimen varying "depending on how sore he felt," says Joujon-Roche. Mornings were spent improving his flexibility with yoga and splits, along with building strength through abdominal and lower-body exercises on an oversize ball. "We would just work on each body part until we killed it," Joujon-Roche says. "Then the next day we'd go to another and kill that one." Afternoons were devoted to cardiovascular activities like martial arts and cycling, to burn fat, plus gymnastics. "Tobey did his own flips with that Spider-Man hood on," says Joujon-Roche. "We gave him self-assuredness." DIET: For breakfast Joujon-Roche made the actor, a vegetarian, a "high-protein shake that included nuts, essential oils and vitamins." Lunch, he says, was often "marinated tofu with broccoli and walnuts and dinner a big veggie burger with brown rice." The menu varied with Maguire's output. "If his workout was pure weights," says Joujon-Roche, "he needed protein. If he did cardio, he'd have a shake of all carbs."
