The Alamo

Revealing mistake: When Crockett, Bowie and their men are about to destroy the giant cannon, several of the men are standing right next to it at the moment one of them tosses the torch on the touch hole. Then, there's a big flash at the touchhole. In the very next shot, right before the cannon explodes, we see the cannon, but everyone has disappeared. There was no time for them to flee completely out of sight.

Revealing mistake: When Bowie's freed slave falls on top of Bowie to protect him from being killed, you can see the rubber bayonets stab him in his back.

Visible crew/equipment: During the initial phase of the final assault, a row of men with their backs to the camera is shown. One of these men (right of the center, with a bandaged head) is actually a dummy positioned at the spot where the wall is blasted a few seconds later. (02:29:35)

Tennessean: Do chastise mean what I think It do?
Tennesseean: It do.
Beekeeper: Davy, let's do saddle up and go learn that gentleman his manners.
Davy Crockett: We won't have to. He's wearing out horses coming towards us.
Beekeeper: Guess we can't stop him from coming. But I reckon we can arrange for him to limp going back.

Trivia: John Wayne had been wanting to do this picture for years but he could not get any backing. He finally used his own money and he felt the financial setback for years, because the picture did not do as well as expected. Duke would always say that he had to continue to work and make pictures to survive. He was nowhere near broke, but to keep up his lifestyle he worked almost to his death.
