Plot hole: The national guard leader says a dozer wouldn't be able to get to that area where the mine was blown up which supposedly was around 500 yards from where Trautman and Teasle were dropped off in the helicopter. But in the following scenes Rambo crawls through the mine which is nowhere near 500 yards long and when he comes out of the shaft he's right next to the road filled with trucks and other vehicles. So why can't a dozer get there?

Suggested correction: The dozer might be able to get to the general area but not specifically to the mine entrance, which is what he was talking about. Either way, it's a plot hole. Even if a dozer had got there, it wouldn't have made any difference. Rambo would have been gone before it got there, cleared the area, and got someone to try and follow him through the tunnels.

Continuity mistake: The sheriff left his hat in his upside down car. He suddenly has it at the gorge.

Audio problem: After Rambo turns onto the dirt and rock road, it looks like he is shifting gears, but the sound of the engine doesn't match.

Continuity mistake: When the truck crashes through the police road block, you can see the tailgate coming down. At the gas station, however, it's up again and Rambo has to lower it to get the M60.

Continuity mistake: During the car chase, after Rambo escapes from the jail, the hub caps on the sheriff's car keep appearing and disappearing. The passenger rear and one on the driver's side even pops off, but reappears again. Look closely after the car flips over.

Factual error: The state police cars have light bars that show blue on the left and red on the right. In real life, the light bars would be red on the left and blue on the right.

Revealing mistake: Towards the end of the film where Rambo shoots up the computers in a building and the spent rounds are falling to the ground. It is clear to see that these are blank rounds. Where the bullet would sit in the case normally you can see the case is extended, This is where on a blank it is just crimped closed due to the lack of a bullet.

John Mansell

Continuity mistake: When Rambo throws the soldier out of the truck and has a dog fight with the state police vehicle his shoes are shown on the accelerator pedal. Those are shoes, not the genuine army boots he wears in the rest of the movie.

Audio problem: In the shot early on, where Teasel jumps his car and breaks a fence post, his car horn beeps when the car lands on the ground. A few shots later, when his car falls down, then flips over on the embankment, the car horn gets stuck. It's a totally different car horn sound this time.

Continuity mistake: When Rambo jumps the fence on the motorbike, Will follows in the car but look at the rear wheels of the car they are bigger and wider with no hub caps because of the rough ground when there back on the dirt road the rear wheels are normal with hub caps.

Continuity mistake: After jumping off the dirt road chasing Rambo, the sheriff's right rear wheel has the hubcap on after landing. A second later, it's missing.

Continuity mistake: During the motorcycle chase, just after the police car breaks through the wooden gate, in the close up of Rambo's motorbike its wheels go through two puddles, a short space of land, then another puddle. Keep watching closely as he rides through the mud. In the overhead shot of Rambo approaching the road at an intersection, he goes through the same three puddles again (the third one is hidden behind a tree, but you can still see the splash).

Rambo: NOTHING IS OVER! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win, but somebody wouldn't let us win! And I come back to the world, and I see all those maggots at the airport, protestin' me, spittin', callin' me "Baby Killer!", and all kinds of vile crap! Who are they to protest me, huh?! Who are they, unless they been me and been there, and know what the hell they're yellin' about?!

Trivia: The name of the movie is often referred to as referred to as "Rambo: First Blood", but is really just "First Blood." "Rambo" wasn't used until the second movie was released. One can see "Rambo" while searching online guides and TV guides, but that is there for people to know that it is a Rambo movie. The movie doesn't have it in the title screen, release poster, or media releases.

Question: Behind the desk of Teasle is a distinguished service cross, a silver star and a purple heart. So he is himself a very brave fighter. Why would such a "war hero" be so mad about another war hero, a recipient of the medal of honor, delivered only by the President of the United States? Jealousy? Rage about the death of his friend?

Answer: At the start of the film when Rambo is causing all these problems, the Sheriff has no idea who John Rambo is (Vietnam War hero), so he thinks Rambo is just another America-disrespecting drifter (the American flag on Rambo's jacket). Also, Teasle is a law and order guy who does not want his town disturbed by outsiders. After the fireworks and Teasle finds out who Rambo is and also meets Colonel Troutman, Teasle's mission becomes personal: rage at the death of his best friend, humiliation in front of his deputies, the incompetence of the state National Guard to subdue Rambo, and also a generational factor: Teasle probably served in Korea or WW2, when America was top dog in the world, so he will not allow some hippie ex-soldier from a "lost" war best him.

That's it. When they got the news that Rambo not only was a real war veteran, an ex-Green Beret, he was a war hero with a Medal of Honor; if Teasle's ego was Pearl Harbor, getting that info was December 7, 1941.
