Continuity mistake: When Jud gives in and shakes Monsignor Wicks' hand after the painstaking detailing of his self-pleasuring ways, Josh O'Connor's left hand is turned differently in his lap between shot and reverse. (00:07:35)
Continuity mistake: After we see Jud speaking for the first time with the groundskeeper as they drink Pepsi and watch the game, we get to see Jud and Martha working together in the office. The two opening shots are meant to be consecutive, but Martha is holding the paper just in a superficially similar way; her hand is on the corner in the wider angle but a couple of inches higher in the other angle. Continuity mistake: When Samson is cleaning up the exterior of the crypt, he puts the paint roller against the half-deleted 'tank' of the 'rocket ship' in a slightly different spot between shots. The natural light of the scene also changes between shots, as you can easily tell from the shadows cast. It's not an expressive choice, unlike many of the sudden light changes that happen in the movie. (00:09:00)
Continuity mistake: Jud asks Martha about the 'harlot w...' he keeps hearing mentioned. She begins talking about Prentice's past and mentions he was widowed, with a daughter. She puts an envelope down on the desk, and the envelope is in a different spot in the next shot. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: During Martha's first flashback about Grace, the debris in front of the 'harlot' changes between shots when she attacks the kid. (00:14:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene that introduces the doctor, when the band Phish is mentioned, Father Jud has his hand on the glass, then doesn't anymore at the cut. (00:17:55)
Continuity mistake: When Father Jud introduces his new idea for a more compassionate approach to the Church, he says, "Welcome to our first Father Jud's prayer group." Look at Lee Ross next to him. His position changes entirely at the first cut. (00:23:20)
Other mistake: During the Good Friday mass, you can see in the crowd Cyrus filming the function while Father Jud is praying, holding the cross. Once a puzzled Jud calls, "Monsignor?" and walks towards him, the camera cuts to Cy, who only at that point raises the camera and starts/resumes filming. Later on, the footage from that day is used as evidence by the forensics, and it's an uninterrupted shot with no camera movements. (00:34:30 - 00:58:10)
Continuity mistake: When the doctor pulls the blade out of the body, Jeremy Renner grips the devil head in a different way between shots. (00:35:50)
Continuity mistake: At the morgue, Geraldine and Blanc react to Father Jud saying he shouldn't be there, turning towards him in two different ways with different timing in the two separate shots. (00:45:40)
Continuity mistake: Inside the "Diavolo" pub, Blanc is checking something out using the picture as a reference. In the POV shot, he's holding the frame, bending his pinky finger, but in the opposite camera angle, he's holding the four fingers straight. (00:48:45)
Continuity mistake: When Father Jud spots (what he thinks is) the discrepancy in the picture Blanc is looking at, you can see in the wider angle that on the counter there's no plastic bag (it is actually behind it) nor paper towel used as a coaster. When he gets closer to the doctor bag and when Dr. Nat Sharp waddles towards the bar, both items are on it. (00:49:00)
Continuity mistake: After Sam closed the garage door, meeting Jud's eyes, the group of three sits at a table outside. Geraldine says that she owes Detective Elliott from Knives Out a fruit basket. Notice that Benoit Blanc doesn't touch the table, but he's leaning against it in the immediate response, and the discrepancy continues as the camera angles alternate. (00:50:20)
Continuity mistake: When Father Jud tells Blanc who is the mastermind who picked the book list the murderer may have used for inspiration (Oprah), Blanc is holding the list in a different way depending on the camera angle (when his hand is barely in the shot, it is pointed downwards). (00:51:50)
Continuity mistake: Blanc puts his reading glasses on to look at the book club list. He then puts them away in his pocket, but the scene wraps up with him saying, "Come on, kids," holding his glasses together with the letter. (00:52:05)
Continuity mistake: In the flashback about the flask, the first time around we see the door close, leaving about an inch of space of distance from the wall, but seconds later Father Jud opens the door to retrieve the flask, and the door is noticeably even closer to the wall. (01:03:05)
Continuity mistake: Father Jud falls asleep the moment he touches his bed. The book on the floor by the bed changes position for this last shot. (01:03:40 - 01:04:25)
Continuity mistake: When Blanc tells Father Jud, "No, you did not think," after the unsuccessful search of the flask, Josh O'Connor's hand suddenly moved to his hip between shots. (01:03:40)
Other mistake: In the flashback of the closing of the casket, Martha says, "You will rise again. It will be OK. You will rise again," and after a pause, "I promise," to which the corpse responds, before Renner interrupts to put the lid on. But in the original scene, Martha, sounding also differently, would say, "You will rise again. It will be OK. You will rise again. You will rise," being immediately interrupted by Renner.
