Avengers: Infinity War

Corrected entry: When Black Widow, Captain America and Black Panther approach Proxima Midnight at the Wakanda barrier, Black Widow asks: "Where is the other friend?" and Proxima answers: "You will pay for his life with yours." We assume Corvus Glaive died. However, a few minutes later he appears trying to steal Vision's stone. Even if he didn't die, it doesn't make sense because he was seriously injured by Black Widow a few hours before.

Correction: She was bluffing about him being dead so that they wouldn't suspect he was already in the same room as Vision, lying in wait for Wanda to join the battle.

Phaneron

Next to that he is an alien, probably a dark elf and we have no idea how badly injured he actually was, and also could have been healed.

lionhead

The staff he holds grants him the power of immortality. Once he dies or is injured while he holds that staff he can come back from anything. He was fatally stabbed while the staff was in his hand in the station, but the last scene where he was stabbed by Vision, he obviously didn't have the staff in his hand because he was stabbed by it. The power the staff holds is the difference.

Correction: Proxima Midnight implied that Corvus Glaive had died so that he could successfully infiltrate Wakanda and get Vision's stone. He also has the ability to survive almost any injury as long as his glaive is undamaged, so his earlier injury is irrelevant to his ability to show up in Wakanda.

Correction: Misdirection. Black Widow thought he was dead, therefore she wouldn't be expecting him to show up again. Proxima just lied, no mistake.

Corrected entry: When Banner lands in the sanctum, Dr Strange and Wong run to the hole. In that moment (when the Levitation Cloak lands on him) Dr Strange's clothes change from ordinary clothes to wizard clothes between shots. (00:10:55)

Correction: Just watched this scene on YouTube. If you watch it closely (slow motion might help), the outfit materializes at the same time the cloak is attaching itself. It's most noticeable around his upper legs.

Phaneron

Correction: No. It's there. Note the strap on his shoulder.

Correction: The strap is there. Look again.

Corrected entry: Spoiler alert: When Thanos snaps his fingers in Wakanda, it was daytime. Therefore, when Nick Fury disintegrated in the USA, it should have been nighttime.

wizard_of_gore

Correction: Not necessarily. Wakanda is in eastern Africa and about GMT+3, while Fury's car had a Georgia license plate, so he was about GMT-5, namely the locations were about 8 hours apart. We see longer shadows being cast in the Wakanda fighting scenes, so the sun there was lower in the Wakanda sky, and when the helicopter crashes we see another building's shadow on the impacted building so the sun is very low in the Georgia sky. Morning in Georgia and afternoon/early evening in Wakanda is consistent with what is shown.

jimba

Correction: For a fraction of a second, the screen of the phone reflects something dark green. There is nothing to indicate this is a green screen and not just an unseen part of the room. It is certainly not the bright, saturated green of a special effects green screen.

Corrected entry: In Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora's backstory is that she is the only one of her kind left. But here we're told Thanos killed half her planet and kidnapped her, meaning half of her people are still alive. He even says "the children born have known nothing but full bellies and clear skies. [Zen-Whoberi] is a paradise."

brianjr0412

Correction: The Russo Bros commented on this. This isn't a mistake. They asked the audience who they trust more: Gamora or Thanos?

Asking the audience who they trust more doesn't make it not a mistake. In one movie it was one thing, they changed it to something else in another. That's a mistake.

brianjr0412

That assumes Thanos never lies. There's no reason to think that. Movie characters LIE ALL THE time. Thanos is trying to convince Gamora, who we later learn he actually loves (possibly the only person he's ever loved), to believe in his cause as much as he does. The Russo's point is that Gamora was in fact the last of her race, and Thanos was lying to win her over. A continuity mistake is something that can't be reasonably explained. This can be.

Corrected entry: When Gamora stabs Thanos on Knowhere and he reveals he is using the reality stone her knife disappears, still in the chest of the fake Thanos, but on Vormir she tries to kill herself with that same knife.

Correction: He took the knife when she used it on the fake Thanos. She pulls it from his belt on Vormir. With control of the reality stone, he can do what he wants with it.

lionhead

Corrected entry: When Steve Rogers pushed away Corvus Glaive until he fell, he drops his spear a few steps away from him, however, in the next shot, his right hand is holding the spear.

Correction: Like Proxima, Glaive has the ability to summon his spear to him. Some sort of magnetic technology.

lionhead

Correction: Seeing as how they were able to locate Vision and Wanda in Scotland earlier in the movie, the stones most likely give off some signature that certain individuals can track if they are skilled enough. Thanos, for example, knew at the beginning of the film that two of the stones were located on Earth.

Phaneron

In that case Thanos could know where was the stone of the soul but he didn't, why he didn't use that skill then?

Thanos had already been in possession of the Mind Stone before he gave it to Loki. The Soul Stone had been hidden for years and no-one had ever claimed it.

Unlike the other Infinity Stones, the Soul Stone cannot simply be possessed by anyone that finds it, as they have to sacrifice what they love to gain it. Given that, it makes sense that it would prove difficult to locate.

Phaneron

Or they could have tracked the Quinjet they flew with the entire time.

Corrected entry: When Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Wong and Dr. Strange are discussing the infinity stone situation Banner tells Stark that Thanos has the power and space stones. How did Banner know this? He only knew about the Tessaract but not what was in it, and he could not have known about the power stone, as he was the Hulk at the time and it was never mentioned to him. (00:14:24)

Correction: Banner and Hulk sometimes share memories. Hulk was lying in wait to attack Thanos and could have easily seen when Thanos displayed the Power Stone to everyone. Banner then would have learned about the Power Stone either from Strange and Wong before they found Tony, or at the same time Tony learned about the Stones.

Phaneron

Corrected entry: Dr Strange doesn't have his sling ring on in many scenes of the movie. His first film explained that it is an important tool for a wizard to open up a portal or conjure a weapon. When Strange confronts Thanos for the first time, he challenges Thanos with a dialogue, a close look at the scene will reveal that the sling ring is missing from his fingers, also during the team fight against Thanos the ring is visible in some shots and not seen in others. (01:48:04)

vinoth2803

Correction: The sling ring is not always worn on the hand. It is kept on the belt when not being utilised at that very moment. For him to perform a number of incantations, Doctor Strange would need to remove it to allow for his hand movements.

Corrected entry: If Gamora knows that Thanos needs her in order to get the soul stone because she is the only one who knows where is it, she should stay away from him in order to avoid being caught, but she decides to go where he is.

oswal13

Correction: She knows it's a big risk, but she feels it's her duty to prevent Thanos from gathering all of the Infinity Stones. This is why she makes Quill promise to kill her if Thanos captures her on Knowhere. Had she known that Thanos had captured and was torturing Nebula and that he knew that Gamora knew where the Soul Stone was, then she probably would have stayed away from him.

Phaneron

Corrected entry: On the Asgardian ship Maw ties up Thor with some metal pieces, even on his mouth, but that patch disappears between shots.

oswal13

Correction: No it doesn't. It sometimes looks that way because in the distance you don't see his chin/neck area. But that's because of the distance. But, it is always there. Remember Maw didn't tie up his mouth until Heimdal died. So there was some time between when he was restrained and the deal.

Corrected entry: When Ebony Maw fights Strange and Wong, they send back the spikes and hit Maw on his face on the left side but he gets the wound on his right. (00:22:55)

oswal13

Correction: No, if you look closer you'll see the spike hit the right side of his face which means the continuity is on track.

Correction: He has a shield on each hand when he hits Thanos. It cuts away and they next time he is seen he has only one. It doesn't disappear suddenly, he removed it offscreen.

Corrected entry: When Dr Strange is first captured in new York, the cable winds up his body and wraps around his neck multiple times. After the piece of road floats up into the air with him lying on, his cape then pulls him out head first and flies him away because the cable wrapped around his neck has mysteriously disappeared.

Correction: Cull Obsidian used the cable around his neck to knock Strange out, then made them retract and loosen again as he didn't want to kill him with it and they weren't necessary anymore.

lionhead

Corrected entry: In Edinburgh with Wanda and Vision there are no people on the streets or the station. Edinburgh Waverley station opens at 5am - if it's early enough for the station to be closed then there'd be people staggering home from clubs, etc., especially on the high street, and if it's late enough for everyone to be home and off the streets, there'd be at least a few people in the station running the place.

oswal13

Correction: They never specify what day of the week it is. Sure, on a Friday or Saturday there would be a few people about, but on a weekday they likely wouldn't. Plus, the few people around would likely run away when a superhero fight broke out nearby.

Corrected entry: When Ebony Maw attaches Strange to the wall, they are upside down but Ebony's hair doesn't react to gravity. (00:23:05)

oswal13

Correction: Maw was using his telekinetic powers to hover above the ground and be upside down. He likely used his telekinetic powers keep his body, hair and clothing in the same state to make it easier for him. You can tell this by the way his hair kind of floats when he is attaching Strange to the wall, compared to when it rests normally when he is right side up.

Casual Person

Corrected entry: If Thor knew that Thanos would be waiting for the stones on Titan he should have gone there, instead of somehow knowing to head straight to Wakanda.

oswal13

Correction: Thor didn't know Thanos went to Titan. He correctly predicted that he would head to Knowhere, after which he would likely go after the 2 stones on Earth.

Thor heard from Thanos that we will be go to Titan inside the ship or at least he should go to Knowwhere not to the earth.

Thor's new hammer gives him the ability to summon the Bifrost, which means he has to survey his intended destination before creating the portal to transport. He very well could have surveyed both Knowhere and Titan (assuming he even knows where Titan is) before settling on Wakanda, but that would have both wasted screen time and diminished the impact for the audience of him arriving in Wakanda to help the other heroes. The movie even shows Thanos arriving on Titan after Thor already arrived in Wakanda, so we can surmise that Thor didn't know where Thanos was located and settled on joining the battle on Earth with the hope that Thanos would eventually turn up there.

Phaneron

Correction: The movie never says that Thor knew that Thanos was on Titan. He knew from the first scene in the film that Thanos sent the Black Order to look for the two Stones that were on Earth (one of which ended up going to Titan with Doctor Strange). He simply used his new powers to summon the Bifrost to survey Earth and located his friends and the Mind Stone in Wakanda and teleported there.

Phaneron

Continuity mistake: Thanos' ship is near the ground in New York but seconds later when Peter senses it, the ship is higher, at building level. (00:18:10)

oswal13

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The two events aren't happening in real time. It's clear Peter sees the ship before it gets close to the ground.

DetectiveGadget85

Continuity mistake: When Thanos brings Vision back to life using the Time Stone, Thanos is standing a couple steps away from him after bringing him back. Wanda then tries to stop him, and it cuts to a wide shot where he suddenly is a couple of steps closer with his hand suddenly around Vision's neck. Thanos then pushes her with his other hand and in the next shot, Thanos is then reaching to put his hand around Vision's neck even though he was just shown with his hand around Vision's neck already. Trivia: In this film, Thanos' plan to wipe out half of all sentient life stems from his desire to bring balance to the universe. In the comics, he is motivated by his unrequited love for the physical embodiment of Death.

More trivia for Avengers: Infinity War

Answer: Although many fans speculated it was because the Hulk fears Thanos after Thanos easily defeated him at the beginning of the film, the Russo brothers have since come out and said that it's because the Hulk feels that Banner only wants the Hulk around for helping him in fights, so his refusal to transform is a protest of sorts.

Phaneron

I think it's both.

Well it's not both. The Russo Brothers, who directed the film, have openly stated that the Hulk is not afraid of Thanos.

Phaneron

Answer: Because he doesn't like being used as a tool and he also is summoned in two places he's already destroyed: New York and Africa. Those are two places he's shown regret for the damage he's caused, which caused him to leave in the first place.

DetectiveGadget85

Answer: Cause Hulk is afraid of Thanos.

This is directly contradicted by the directors of the film, who have stated it's because he doesn't like that Banner only wants to use him for his strength.

While I understand that this is what the directors said, what we have in the finished product would never lead one to this conclusion. We first see Hulk fight Thanos and get completely over-matched. From then on, we only get glimpses of Hulk inside Banner, refusing to come out, and seemingly scared to do so. If they wished to convey inner strife between Banner and Hulk or anything else, that did a very poor job doing so.
