Best horror movie mistakes of 2013
Continuity mistake: They trick one witch with a record recording of a boy that is lost. H&G are thrown down by it and the witch picks up a branch and begins zooming off like it is a broom. Hansel is behind her, yet despite the witch traveling faster than he is running, somehow he suddenly gets in front of her and smacks her with his gun.
Revealing mistake: When the family's car is about to be hit by the ambulance as they try to escape downtown, Gerry is driving and his wife is up, leaning over the passenger seat talking to their daughter. The camera angle changes to a view from behind, and as the ambulance is about to hit, we can see there is nobody in the car and the ambulance driver is wearing a safety helmet. This is viewable in just a few frames.
Continuity mistake: John is taken down by a trap set by Hansel and puts a big hole in his back. He gets back up and is shot down by the Sheriff. As he is getting up a second time, it shows his back. There is no hole in his back or shirt before the Sheriff finishes him off. It also shows no hole or blood on his back in one shot when he is chasing with the bear trap before he is shot the first time.
Other mistake: When Odd Thomas and Stormy are riding on his moped through town to stop the massacre they pass a car dealership. All of the letters on the dealership signs are reversed except for a large lighted awning sign that says "Welcome to quality." The normal and reversed signs appear at the same time in the same frame.
Deliberate mistake: During the entire movie nothing is mentioned about the rape of Merrin until the very end, even though it is quite obvious for a forensic investigator to determine she was raped, and something like that would be very important to help find a suspect. This is done deliberately to continue the plot as rape would make Iggy less of a suspect (being her boyfriend for years) and someone like Lee more (known by Iggy and others he had feelings for her).
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Heather runs through the fairground she grabs onto the back of the Ferris wheel seat and is taken up in the air. Leatherface throws the chainsaw at the cop and the next shot shows Heather coming back down the other side of the Ferris wheel. But she should be on the inside of the carriages as it just spins round on an axis. These kinds of wheels don't "twist" at the top otherwise the rider would just be staring at the inside of the wheel the whole time.
Continuity mistake: Radha Mitchell is giving a press release at the beginning of the movie. There are many microphones in front of her in rows. In the front row, from her left, are orange, black and blue microphones. In one shot from the front, another black microphone appears next to the blue one.
Factual error: Near the end, Zoe and Trey battle to the death, Zoe armed with a tomahawk and a knife, Trey armed with a Husqvarna chainsaw. During the battle, Zoe manages to amputate Trey's right hand, with which he was gripping the chainsaw's safety release and trigger (as his left hand gripped the support handle). Bellowing in pain, Trey continues swinging the chainsaw by its support handle with his left hand. Lo and behold, the chainsaw is somehow, miraculously, still revving in-and-out, which is only possible if the safety release is continuously depressed with the palm of the right hand as the fingers rhythmically flex to squeeze the trigger. Of course, with all major tendons in the wrist severed, an amputated hand cannot grip or flex or squeeze anything.

Continuity mistake: Our group of jewelry thieves are on their way to "Zugarramurdi" in a stolen taxicab. The "green soldier" Antonio began to wash the color from his face. Nevertheless you can see, depending on the camera angle, that the green color is sometimes seen on his nasal bone and sometimes not.
Factual error: Tilda Swinton requests a flight from Detroit to Tangier, Morocco, but it must be an all-night flight since she and Tom Hiddleston are vampires. They end up accepting a flight connecting through Madrid. Flying west to east, it would be impossible. If they leave their home at sunset, say 6 p.m. Detroit time, and take off around 8 p.m. Detroit time, it is already 1 a.m. In Spain. Toss in the travel time and they will be landing in Madrid in the early morning, which would kill them.
