Best fantasy movie mistakes of 2002
Continuity mistake: Gimli is lying with his face under the water, after jumping off the Deeping Wall and landing on the Uruk-hai. In the close-up, the right arm that grabs Gimli's shoulder to help him out of the water is Legolas' right arm. Yet, in the wide shot, suddenly it is Aragorn helping Gimli to his feet, not Legolas.
Revealing mistake: At the beginning of the scene near the end of the movie with Lucius Malfoy fuming at Dumbledore in his office, Malfoy's hair is fanned back behind his shoulders. The lighting in the room illuminates the back of his neck, where you can see his real, short brown hair.
Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie during the skateboard scene with Shaggy and Scooby riding along the conveyor belt, Scooby grabs a hook and both Shaggy and Scooby jump off of the skateboard. You see the skateboard falling off the conveyor belt, but in the next scene it is on the conveyor belt and being crushed.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Santa is getting married, just after they kiss and Santa looks like Santa again, you can see in the bottom left hand corner Bernard and Curtis giving each other the thumbs up. In the very next shot, it repeats them doing this again only in a close up.
Continuity mistake: When Joe is leaving the dinner party after talking to the grief counselor, he puts on his jacket and the collar of his sweater is flat underneath it. The camera cuts away and when you see him again his collar is standing up closer to his neck. Then the camera cuts away and his collar is flat under his jacket when it comes back to him again.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Winnie and Jessie are going swimming, when Winnie takes off her dress, you see that her right foot was not completely out of the dress. Then in the next shot, you see Winnie jump in without moving her dress at all, and it is far away from her on the rock.
Factual error: When Carl first receives 26 at the hatchery, he asks what kind of dinosaur she is. He is told she is a Hadrosaur (duck-billed dinosaur), but when we see her, she is some sort of Ceratopsian (i.e.: Triceratops). She is later referred to as a Chasmosaur (which while not looking like 26, IS a Ceratopsian).
