Continuity mistake: When Mike and Jodi are walking through the "deserted" town, supposedly everyone in town has been killed by The Tall Man, when the Tall Man walks down the middle of the street you can see an old lady pushing an empty shopping cart, and a car driving around a corner in the distance.
Continuity mistake: When John and Meg are trying to escape the carwash in the car, in some shots the back window of the car is totally missing and in others there is a large section of shattered glass still there. (00:41:24)
Plot hole: While planting the suicide gear in the bathroom before Buckley comes in, Cooper tells Josh to tie the rope into a noose as they go to hide in the shower. Josh replies that he doesn't even know how to tie a noose. He must be a quick study, because in the 45 seconds or so that it would have taken Buckley to relieve himself and wash his hands, Josh has tied a perfect noose. (01:03:55)
Continuity mistake: During the scenes where Detective Mike Gage is trying to track down Captain Howdy in his car via laptop and cell phone modem, he keeps looking at a certain driveway with a dog in it. Each time they cut back to the driveway, the dog is in a different place. The newspaper is also picked up and taken away by a man, and returns several times, each time in different spatial relation to the dog.
Visible crew/equipment: Dolly tracks are visible in Ian McKellen's house on the carpet.
Visible crew/equipment: Just after Tarzan goes under the stone door, he finds the torches dropped by the bad guys. The flame from one of the torches is reflected in the camera lens, and was caught on tape. It looks like a single, unattached flame is hovering on the stone wall nearby. This is made even better when Tarzan picks up the torch and then drops it, the reflection follows his movements precisely.
Continuity mistake: When Jennifer Lopez sits on a bed in the hospital, she is talking to someone on the other side of the room. When the camera points towards Jennifer the sheets of her bed are a little bit messy; when the camera returns to Jennifer in the next shot her bed is made up.
Factual error: After we are shown an aerial shot of New Orleans, then we see the scene where Lawson Russell pulls up in a New Orleans cab outside of a skyscraper. The only problem is, the skyscraper is the Library Tower, which is situated in downtown Los Angeles. (00:38:00)
Continuity mistake: In the scene when George and Nina almost sleep together the phone rings and George answers it, he gets out of bed and one of his top buttons is done up; the next scene none of the buttons are done up.
Continuity mistake: Early in the film before he learns of Ned's death, Jackie says that there are 52 people living in the village, but once he learns of Ned's death, he still says that the winnings will be split into shares of 52.
Continuity mistake: As mentioned in a previous error, just before Jake is checked into the Surf Hotel, there is a long scrolling shot that illustrates the surroundings of Jake's room in the hotel. In particular, notice that Nathan's Seafood and Clam Bar is not across the street from Kennedy Fried Chicken. This is contradicted later when a) Jake looks out of his window and sees the Nathan's sign, and b) Jake is seen leaning out of his window above the Kennedy sign.
Continuity mistake: When Sarah comes in with the tea and biscuits for Joe and Shanks, the amount of ceiling that Shanks has painted changes between shots without enough time for him to have done it. (00:17:50)
Continuity mistake: In the movie, notice how the red sport utility vehicle driven by Bill Paxton goes from shiny and clean to very dirty and dusty, from one shot to the next, all within the same scene.
Visible crew/equipment: About half the way through when Paul Newman is sitting on a seat in the police station with James Garner, the boom operator and another guy scratching his head can be seen to the left of Newman in the marble wall. It is fairly obvious taking up a 1/3rd of the screen. Also in the same time when Newman is walking through the halls of the police station with Stockard Channing a whole heap of movie posters can be seen on the walls like they used the offices of a movie studio as a police station.
Continuity mistake: There is a scene where Jack Stanton is campaigning in Manchester, New Hampshire. He is shown talking with a counter clerk in a "Krispy Kremes" donut shop. There is no Krispy Kreme shop in Manchester, or even in New Hampshire. This is a southern chain, even though its donuts are now distributed throughout the U.S.
Other mistake: Wouldn't flying out of the water with the unconscious Z in his arms be kind of tricky for Cutter, as his wings would be soaked?
Continuity mistake: When Andie MacDowell is taking a taxi to the airport, you can clearly see her lips say "Kennedy" while the voice comes out as "LaGuardia" as she's telling the driver where she wants to go.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the movie when Dominique Swain and Tara Reid are talking in the yard, Dominique's hair has braids and her front left braid keeps getting tucked behind her ear and out again.
Continuity mistake: On the river, her lover has a cigarette, then there's a cut to Hela's mother, and when we see her lover again, the cigarette is gone.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Grace arrives home and places her handbag on the counter in an anteroom the bag disappears in the next shot.
