Out of Sight

Continuity mistake: When Jennifer Lopez sits on a bed in the hospital, she is talking to someone on the other side of the room. When the camera points towards Jennifer the sheets of her bed are a little bit messy; when the camera returns to Jennifer in the next shot her bed is made up.

Plot hole: When Karen is at Moselle's apartment looking for Snoopy, we overhear Kenneth on the phone talking about some boxers who are going to fight. The first thing we hear is him clarifying that the fights were at the State Theater. The fights are always at the State Theater and they always go there to watch them, so it makes no sense for him to have said that, other than to subtly benefit the plot.

Continuity mistake: Jennifer Lopez arrests a man by putting her gun to his head as he lies on the floor. She then gets a pair of handcuffs from her purse, cuffs him and pulls him to his feet. Her gun has now vanished.

Continuity mistake: When the convicts escape from the tunnel, Clooney comes out in a guard's uniform, completely covered in mud. Yet when he lies in the trunk of the car with Jennifer Lopez his face is clean.

Other mistake: Before the job, in the car, Don Cheadle, in the back seat, hands out a hacksaw, a ratchet and a pump-action shotgun, which he pumps before handing it over. The man taking the shotgun immediately pumps it again, which means it's been pumped twice, and a cartridge should have been ejected, but it wasn't. Or the gun's empty, in which case there was no point pumping it once, let alone twice.

Buddy Bragg: You think there's a Hell?
Jack Foley: Yeah, it's called the Glades Correctional Institute. I'm sure as shit not going back there, or anyplace like it.
Buddy Bragg: Oh, they put a gun on you, you'll go.
Jack Foley: They put a gun on you, you still have a choice.

Question: When Karen is being questioned by her superior in the hospital, he has her written report. But, when did she have time to write it? She met Foley, got thrown in the trunk, got into an accident, then went to the hospital.

Answer: Movies tend to gloss over realistic details and compress events to tell the story. It is possible she dictated it into a recorder and someone transcribed it into a written report.
